Tractive GPS for Dogs and Cats 4+

My life has genuinely improved now I have the Tractive to keep an eye on my wandering kitty. If I feel like a cuddle, I can easily go outside to find him. And I’m no longer traipsing around the neighbourhood at night when he misses dinner, calling his name and wondering if this will be The Time he doesn’t come home. It’s like playing Pokemon Go with a real furry critter.

Agree with another comment that the charging cable is a pain because it falls off so easily - I don’t see why it couldn’t have been a plug-in. But I love the app and the gamified features, and have found both hardware and software very user friendly.

One suggestion would be to make smaller trackers for cats - mine hangs around the cat’s neck like a weird dangly pendant. It’s about twice the width of his skinny little neck, so no chance of it sitting flush. The cat doesn’t seem to mind though, bless him.

I loved how easy these were to setup. The magnetic USB charging cable is cool, but the magnetic piece does come away easily and would recommend cable is made longer, I wanted to charge in a wall socket, but cable is way too short. The app is easy to use and has some cool features, such as the live feature and Bluetooth functionality. I set these up last night and they will likely need a charge tonight, so the battery life isn’t amazing, but will need to test this moving forward as some of the settings used (light/live mode) can drain the battery and I was testing these out last night.

The one big gripe I have today is that my dogs are appearing outside of my virtual fence, when I know for a fact they aren’t. I had set the virtual fence to my property boundary, but when they go near the fence, it makes them appear well outside of it. Will test and adjust this, but assuming this is the nature of the gps technology and not much can be done.

Still a very cool piece of kit, I selected the annual basic plan with the extra $3 a month for a replacement device if needed. Pretty happy at $12 per animal and I didn’t have to go out and organise a SIM card or provider and plan, which is handy.

As someone who suffers really bad with anxiety and gets extremely worried about my cat not coming home, this tracking collar eliminates any of my worries as with a tap of a button I can locate my cat wherever he is. The only thing that I think could be improved is whenever my cat is inside the house the tracking collar won’t let me find him with the proximity finder. I find it has never worked but with looking around for a few minutes I can usually find him anyways. This tracking collar is 100% worth it and I’d recommend this to anyone who gets worried with their cats whereabouts!
