• Fixed: SMB network shares (NAS) now work completely. A share notebook used to open empty, miss files added on the server, or freeze the app when the share dropped. Igneous now keeps a full copy of the share on your iPhone, so the notebook opens instantly and you can read and edit even with the share out of reach. Changes go both ways as soon as it's back, and a dropped share never freezes the app. • Sync is vastly improved and much clearer. Pull down in the sidebar to sync the notebook fully; in between, Igneous sends only what changed. Notes added, deleted or renamed on either side carry over, in the order they happened. If both sides edited the same note, the edits are merged or the note opens in Compare so you choose — nothing is silently lost, and anything removed goes to Trash. A banner shows when it last synced and what changed. If a note was deleted on one side and edited on the other, the edit is kept; Settings ▸ Sync lets you choose "Latest change wins" instead. • If you added an SMB share before this update and Igneous still hangs or won't open it, delete the app and install it again, then add the share fresh. Deleting the app also deletes notebooks kept only on this iPhone, so move or export those first; iCloud and Mac-synced notebooks come back on their own. • Already have a folder of notes in iCloud Drive? In Notebooks, tap Add Folder from Files…, go to that folder, tap into it and tap Open, instead of making a new notebook. Igneous uses the folder right where it is. • Fixed: it wasn't clear how to keep notes on your own network with no cloud. You can now make a notebook that stays only on this device, every notebook says where it lives, an iCloud notebook can be moved onto your device, and Settings ▸ Sync explains that syncing with your Mac goes directly over your own Wi-Fi with no servers in between. iCloud is fully optional. • Fixed: typing a title could make the # disappear and the title turn into a regular sentence. The # now stays visible while you type, and the line stays a heading. • Fixed: returning to the app could show a blank, unresponsive screen for a while. • Sync conflicts are easier to settle: Compare shows both versions with tracked changes (green for this device, red for the other), with clear Keep This, Keep the Other and Keep Both buttons. • Prefer not to type Markdown? Formatting Help in the ⋯ menu above the keyboard shows how to make titles, bold text and lists with buttons. • Step-by-step guides: tap ⓘ next to Notebooks, Add Folder, Connect to a Mac and Sync. • Deleting, restoring and adding folders now sync to your Mac right away, and putting a note back from Trash in a Mac-synced notebook no longer loses it.

• Outline in the margin: a slim set of ticks beside your note shows its headings, voice notes, embeds and callouts. Hover to read them, click to jump. On iPhone it is an Outline pop-up. One setting turns it on or off. • iPhone Duo: choose, for portrait and landscape separately, whether the unfolded screen uses the iPhone layout with the pill or the tabs layout. Meeting mode starts by itself when the Duo is set up like a laptop, and recording can carry on while the Duo is closed. • Fixed the visual glitches when rotating between portrait and landscape. • The saved voice note card's Copy button now opens Igneous to copy the transcript, so it works on the Lock Screen. • Notes in a folder you move out of your notebook in Files now leave search on iPhone and iPad, as they do on the Mac. • Version history for notes you delete is cleared out 30 days later. Notes in Trash keep theirs. • The recording icon moves only while sound is coming in, which saves battery. • Faster saving, searching, and opening of large notebooks on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

• Voice notes: after you save, the Live Activity offers Open, Copy and Dismiss. Open jumps to the new entry and highlights it. • Choose which notebook Lock Screen and Control Center recordings go into. • "Last Voice Note" is now in the app icon's menu. A recording saved after an unexpected quit now tells you where it went. • iCloud conflicts: Igneous now tells you when iCloud keeps two versions of a note, and lets you compare them and choose which to keep. • The formatting bar now always appears with the keyboard in a note. • PDF links and search results on iPad open on the right page. • Smoother scrolling, typing and opening notes, especially in large notebooks.

Linked notes that know why, PDFs you can link into, and a calendar beside your notes. NEW IN WRITING • Typed links: write [[Project Alpha|rel:depends_on]] and the link shows a coloured label for the relationship. Find them with outgoing.depends_on = [[Project Alpha]] or incoming.depends_on = [[Project Alpha]] in a query. In the graph, typed links point the way they read, and a Link types menu shows just the ones you choose. Plain Markdown, so other apps just see a link. • Link to a page, some text or a region of a PDF: [[Paper.pdf#page=4]]. Tap it and the PDF opens beside the note (a sheet on iPhone), scrolled to the spot. Select text in the PDF and tap Insert to make the link. Search finds PDF text page by page. • Edit a ![[Note#Heading]] or ![[Note#^block]] embed right where it sits. Your change is saved into the note it came from. • Type =SUM(B2:B8) in a table cell for a live total. The value stays in the file, so other apps show it too. Tables and queries get a footer for sum, average, min, max and count. • Cells in a query table are editable: tick a checkbox, pick a status or change a date, and the note it belongs to is updated. • Note schemas: describe the properties and headings a kind of note should have, in a template or .igneous/schemas.json. Missing properties show as faint rows you can fill in with one tap, and schema:invalid lists the notes that don't match. • Compare & Restore: in a note's History, Compare shows an earlier version beside the note, with a slider to walk through the versions and a button to put back just one block. • Voice notes: the player under a recording now plays properly, and the time marks under it jump to that moment. CALENDAR AND REMINDERS (OFF UNTIL YOU TURN IT ON) • Settings ▸ Periodic & Automation ▸ Calendar & Reminders. Show your calendar's events next to the day, open a meeting note for any event, and give a task a time on the day's timeline. • Sync tasks that have a due date with a Reminders list called Igneous. Finish one there and it's ticked here, and the other way round. Nothing in your notes is ever deleted. ON-DEVICE INTELLIGENCE • Related Notes in the Inspector now has a Link button: add a note close in meaning to the one you're reading, as a link, in one tap. It uses an index that builds on your device while it's charging. • On iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence, type a question in Search and choose Ask Vault. The answer is written on your device from your notes, with the notes it used listed beneath. FROM THE WEB • Share a page from Safari and the note keeps the article, not the menus around it, with where it came from. Optionally, Settings ▸ General & Vaults ▸ Save web images with clipped pages keeps the pictures in your notebook. It's off until you turn it on, and it only asks the site for each picture.

• Voice notes now show the full time span of each recording, like 14:32–14:35, in 24-hour or 12-hour time, with the length in brackets if you want it (Settings ▸ Capture & Gestures ▸ Voice Note Text). • Daily and other date-based notes can live in a folder of your choice, organised by year or by year and month (Settings ▸ Daily Notes). Voice notes from the Lock Screen follow it. Existing notes stay where they are. • Notebooks are kept across app updates; no more reconnecting folders after an update. • Related Notes in the Inspector suggests similar notes, found on your device. • Share a web page from Safari to clip it into a note as Markdown. • Daily notes made on two devices while offline are merged instead of creating a conflict copy. • Faster editor loading, smoother tab switching, and more reliable saving while you type. • Now in German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish and French.

Fixes Lock Screen and Control Center buttons that did nothing. • Record Voice Note, Capture Note and the other Igneous controls on the Lock Screen and in Control Center now reach Igneous again. Before, a press could do nothing at all.

Fixes for the side panes and the recording banner, a rework of the iPhone Duo outer display, and a new Portrait only option. • Fixed a rare case where the notebook drawer stayed open and pushed the note to the side after a swipe was interrupted. Panes now always settle fully open or fully closed. • Fixed the closed notebook pane peeking in at the edge of the screen when an iPhone is turned sideways. • New Settings ▸ Capture & Gestures ▸ Portrait only keeps Igneous upright on iPhone. • While you record a voice note, the recording banner now folds out of the way when the Inspector opens, the way it already did for the notebook drawer. • iPhone Duo outer display: the pill is back at the bottom with the same gestures as on iPhone, and the header is gone so the note fills the screen top to bottom. • iPhone Duo: Back and Forward are stacked at the bottom of the side bar, and there is a new Inspector button. The notebook and Inspector buttons each open and close their pane, alongside the swipes. • iPhone Duo: the "…" menu is organized into Navigate, Note, Tabs and Settings.

Fixes for voice notes, sync and iPhone Duo, a search field for Tasks, and a faster, more reliable editor. • Record Voice Note: on iOS 27, the button in widgets and controls starts recording with a Live Activity, without opening Igneous. On earlier versions it opens Igneous to start. The first time, Igneous takes you to the microphone and speech prompts instead of doing nothing, and if the microphone is off it says so and offers Settings. • Faster, more reliable sync with your Mac: reopening the Mac app no longer re-sends your whole notebook to your phone, and your own edits are not downloaded back. • Typing in long notes sends far less to the editor, notes open sooner, and the app is smaller. • Saving a note no longer waits on iCloud. Ticking a task or editing a property while you type keeps both changes. • iPhone Duo: tab and chip rows stay clear of the crease, and the editor no longer flashes blank when the phone changes shape in book pose. • The Tasks list has a search field, the way Tags does. Type a word to find a task, or a note's name to see everything outstanding in it. • Fixed a crash when the iPad app opens on a Mac.

Ready for iPhone Duo, plus a long list of improvements. IPHONE DUO • Your note, cursor, search and open panels carry across when the screen changes size, as when the phone opens or closes. • On the outer display, the dock's actions move into the system's side bar. • When the large display is partly folded, the notebook, Inspector, calendar, graph, canvas controls, board and tab overview are arranged around the fold. • The editor keeps text off the fold, and when the phone is propped like a laptop, the line you are typing stays in the top half. • The recording pill keeps clear of the camera, and a voice recording has its own layout when the phone is propped like a laptop. • The keyboard bar, find bar and search fit the shorter outer display. NEW AND IMPROVED • Faster and smoother, especially with large notebooks and long notes. Query blocks are dramatically faster. • Swiping between tabs shows each note exactly as it looks, with no flicker. • Each note remembers its undo history, cursor and scroll position when you switch away. • Move or rename a note or folder and the links that point to it follow. • Paste from a web page and it arrives as Markdown. Type [[ and it closes itself and completes headings. • Spell-check underlines as you write. Autocorrect stays off, and both are in Settings. • Chemistry formulas, nested callouts, Markdown inside tables and right-to-left lines. • Word and character counts in the Inspector, and Print on iPhone and iPad. • iPad: more keyboard shortcuts, tabs come back after relaunch, and Control-Tab and Command-1 to 9 switch tabs. • Choose where each voice note button records. The recording banner folds into a pill you can flick to any corner. • On iPhone, search opens in one motion with the keyboard already up. SYNC WITH YOUR MAC • Empty folders sync, and renaming or deleting a folder on your phone carries over to the Mac in one step. • Sync Now and Last synced in Settings, big transfers wait under Low Data Mode, and many fixes for dropped connections, renames and offline edits.
