Your countdowns now sync between your iPhone and iPad. Add, change or delete one and it changes everywhere, widgets, reminders and pins included. It runs on your own iCloud: no account, and we never see your countdowns. You can turn it off in Settings. Notes are now a full page. Write freely, then add sections that fold open and closed and checklists you can tick off, like Hotel, Tickets or a packing list. With Simple Count Pro you can add photos and files too. One toolbar adds them right where you're typing. On a shared countdown, everyone sees and edits the same notes: tick an item and it's ticked for everyone. Search finds what's inside your notes too. iCloud Backup is now part of sync: your countdowns still come back if you reinstall the app. Also: opening the app now always picks up the latest changes to shared countdowns. In Settings you can now follow Simple Count on Instagram, TikTok and X. On iPad, "How to add the widget" in Settings now shows an iPad.

New: Count Down Together. Share a countdown with the people you're counting down with, and it stays linked. When anyone changes the date, the photo or the note, it updates on every device, widgets included. Everyone can make changes, and your reminders stay your own. It runs on Apple's iCloud: no account, and we never see your countdowns. You can share one countdown for free; Simple Count Pro lets you share as many as you like at once. Joining is always free. To start one, open a countdown, tap Share, then Count Down Together. Count Down Together replaces Send to a Friend: what you share now stays up to date for everyone. Not sure how to get the widget onto your iPhone? Simple Count now shows you. Open Settings and tap "How to add the widget": a little iPhone plays every step, for both the Home Screen and the Lock Screen. Until you've added one, a short tip on the main screen takes you straight there. The widget also has a new choice: Next Event. It always shows your closest countdown and moves on to the next one by itself once the day has passed. New widgets start on it, and you can still pick any single countdown instead. Past countdowns are now one tap away. A new Upcoming and Past switch at the top of the main screen gives finished events their own tab, so you no longer have to scroll past every upcoming countdown to find them. It appears as soon as one of your events has passed. You can now select straight from search results: search, tap the checkmark, pick your countdowns and share them. On iPad, the welcome screens new users see now fit the big screen and show an iPad instead of an iPhone. This update also fixes the app closing right after opening on iOS 17. Plus a few small fixes.

You can now try a photo background before you buy it. Pick a photo and it lands on your countdown straight away — then keep it, or save without it, whichever you prefer. The Pro screen shows what a photo background actually looks like instead of only describing it. Also: the widget no longer adds a party popper to a countdown on its day — your own emoji is already there, and not every countdown is a celebration. Live Activities finish with that same emoji now, and new countdowns start on a brighter colour. And if you're new here: the welcome screens are now pictures instead of paragraphs, and you can style a countdown before you've even started.

Import from Calendar: the concerts, trips and birthdays already in your calendar become countdowns, without typing them again. Search to find one among hundreds, and repeating events keep repeating.

Tidier new-countdown screen: emoji and card style now sit nearer the top, and the confetti switch lives under a section actually called Confetti.

Past events now keep their own colors and photos in the list, instead of fading to grey once the day has gone by.

When you set up a widget, the countdown list now follows the same order as the app: pinned first, then whatever is coming up soonest, with past events at the end.

Fixed repeating countdowns set to a custom interval, such as every 2 days, that showed "Every day" instead of the actual days remaining. Notifications now show your event's time, and their wording fits every kind of countdown - appointments and deadlines, not just celebrations.

Fixed a background crash that could occur while Simple Count refreshed Live Activities.

Fixed a bug where tapping a shared countdown could just open Simple Count without adding the event. Shared events now import the first time you tap the link, even when the app wasn't already open.

Fixed a bug where a note written while creating or editing an event could be lost instead of saved. Notes now save reliably wherever you add them. The event editor also asks before discarding unsaved changes, so a stray swipe can no longer lose an event you were still writing.

NEW: iCloud Backup! Your events, notes, and photos are now backed up automatically to your own iCloud — delete the app or switch to a new iPhone, and everything comes right back. Still no account, and still private: the backup lives in your personal iCloud, where we can't see it. Turn it off or delete it anytime in Settings. NEW: Notes! Add a note to any event — tickets, addresses, packing lists — and view or edit it right on the countdown screen with the new note button. Notes travel with shared events too. NEW: Search! Find any countdown instantly by name or note — or search by emoji: mark all your birthdays with the same emoji and pull them up together, like tags. Plus: keep Simple Count in a widget Smart Stack and iOS now brings it to the top on its own as your event gets close — and follow us on Instagram from Settings (@simplecountdownapp).

NEW: Fully custom recurring events — now free for everyone! Repeat any event exactly the way you want: every few days, weeks, months, or years, on specific weekdays, on multiple days each month, or patterns like "the 3rd Sunday of June, July, and August." NEW: Custom countdown reminders! Add as many reminders as you like to each event — days, hours, or even minutes before your big moment. IMPROVED: Live Activities now work reliably with repeating events, and a new notification invites you to follow the final 6 hours live on your Lock Screen. FIXED: Widgets now roll over to the next day exactly on time, with clearer day labels and reliability improvements throughout the app. Enjoy the anticipation!
