If you subscribe via iTunes: Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period and identify the cost of the renewal. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase. Great introduction to learning a language
Okay, so it’s a bit misleading to call it a “free” language learning app. But for the content you get for the yearly subscription, it’s definitely worth it. I’m learning 3 languages now and have been using the app for 2 years. I’m sure if I signed up for a real language course online, i’d get more structure and more guidance but if the goal is just to pick up a language for conversation, i think it the material provided by FluentU achieves that purpose. And you can learn multiple languages at any time.
I guess the only problem is that there arent any courses to teach you the very basic building blocks of the language. Like if you’re not from Japan, it’s imperative to learn the basic hiragana and katana characters to pick up the language. But you don’t get that kind of tutorial here. You jump straight to basic nouns and verbs. Would be better if there were foundational courses. Same with Mandarin and its pinyin. Other than that, it’s pretty good at teaching grammar and intonation.

Excellent but pricey
I just downloaded the app and it's very interesting and interactive. It has lots of free chapters you can access that's definitely worth the free download. To upgrade though has a corresponding monthly fee which does not suit all users. I for one can only access the app a few times a week so I will not get my money's worth if I have to pay monthly. What I suggest is to unlock some levels at one time payment instead because it's not like you will learn everything there is in just a month so the unlimited access up to the advance level won't serve its purpose.
Broken App, Cannot Log in
I reinstalled because the app doesn’t open and when it does, I try to log in and it tells me that I need to be connected to the internet (which I’m obviously am). I even tried connecting to another network just to be sure but still had the same error.
