D-Day Explorer is a collaborative, multilingual mobile app designed to help users explore the historic sites of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy.
D-Day Explorer is the mobile app for the D-Day Overlord website. It is dedicated to the historic sites of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy.
It allows users to view a map of sites, monuments, museums, ruins, events and itineraries, complete with historical fact sheets, practical information and multilingual content in English, Dutch, French, German and Spanish.
The app helps you plan a visit to Normandy, find your favourite places, mark sites you have visited and keep track of commemorative events.
It features both online and offline viewing modes, with built-in local data, to make it easier to use whilst out and about.
Users can also suggest new sites or add recent photos. Contributions are sent to a moderation queue before publication.
D-Day Explorer is aimed at visitors, families, history enthusiasts, guides, teachers and researchers wishing to explore the traces of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.
