Summitree – Your Challenge App for More Activity and Sustainable Impact

With Summitree, every step and every sporting activity becomes a contribution to the environment. Take part in exciting, community-driven challenges, collect kilometers by running, hiking, or cycling, and turn your movement into real trees or other sustainable projects.
How it works:
• GPS tracking for outdoor activities: When you start running, hiking, or cycling, you can record your route directly via GPS. The app uses a foreground service while you are on the move – always visible and fully under your control.
• Step counting via motion sensors: In our step challenges, your smartphone’s motion sensors automatically count your steps – no location data required. You can even keep the app closed, as long as you’ve granted permission for “physical activity.”
• Be active together: Compete as a team, motivate each other, and reach your goals.
• Create real impact: Transform your activities into trees or other sustainable projects.
• Flexible and easy: Use the app anywhere – with automatic GPS tracking, step counting, or synchronization with your fitness tracker.
Note:
• As soon as an activity recording is started by a user – and only until the user stops the recording – the app may also capture location data in the background or when the phone is locked. For this, the permission for the foreground service is required.

Summitree uses:
• Location permission & foreground service when you actively start GPS tracking (e.g., for cycling).
• Physical activity permission to count steps via your motion sensor – without using location data.
