• Updated Ableton Link SDK This update should fix sync issues or cases where touchscaper is not being recognised by other Link-enabled apps and vice versa. PLEASE NOTE: The first time you enable Link, you may see a permissions alert asking for confirmation to allow touchscaper to access your network. This is solely to support Link and is basically how Link enables apps to communicate.

• new "touch" keyboard option for main instruments • MIDI controller option to toggle between min / max values • option to randomise MIDI note velocities from main instrument view Please see the updated user guide for more details. • fixed sequencer "stuttering steps" issue (*) • fixed issue with MIDI percussion note maps using incorrect notes • fixed issues when copying sequencer patterns across different parts • non-active sequencer steps are now dimmed • sequencer pattern / grid hide and window size logic was confusing - hopefully less so now • sequencer touch "synth 2" is now called "synth c" - everything else works as before (*) tech note about sequencer stuttering for those who are interested: this was an intermittent and occasional problem, the cause of which had been difficult to track down. the stuttering would sometimes occur when switching apps while the sequencer was running. For some reason, this got a lot worse with iOS 13 (especially when using IAA), but at least that meant it was a little easier to reproduce the issue and I think I've finally managed to fix it... New MIDI out features! • keyboard ribbon now supports MPE • additional sequencer synth source with hi / lo split, ping pong and random modes! Sorry for the flurry of updates recently! So... here are a few MIDI-related things that I wanted to get out ASAP: • fixed silly issue with MIDI destination channels getting confused (sometimes out by 1 - really sorry about this one!) • added option to align with pitch bend range on target MIDI destination for keyboard ribbon (useful if pitch bend range > 2 semitones) • added convenience option to transpose MIDI sequencer synth up or down by an octave (handy for hardware or bass-specific patches) • fixed issue with panic button not always sending notes off to all destinations • updated user guide Also just a quick note to say that I totally appreciate that adding MIDI integration has made the app a lot more complex and there is a real need for some decent tutorials - I'll hopefully get to that soon. -Rob

At long last... MIDI out is out! I know many of you have been waiting *very* patiently for this, and I would like to thank you for that, and I really hope you enjoy this update. Please take a little time to have a look at the MIDI section in the user guide (now accessible from within the app via the gears / settings view). There will be additional MIDI features (incl. drums out) coming soon! Think of this as "MIDI 1.0" and please let me know of any issues or glitches either via touchscaper.com or the FB page. Firstly, apologies for removing the root note sustain feature in the previous version. It's back, and can be switched on via the settings (cog) panel. What's new... • Root note sustain feature (ahem) • Fixed bug in root note sustain feature that could result in stuck notes • Closing advanced scene view re-opens basic view (feature request) • Chords can be auditioned from advanced scene view (feature request) • Fixed issue with keyboard ribbon vertical movement volume calculation • Added optional vertical ribbon sensitivity setting • Chord1 sequencer touch piano is now routed through synth ping-pong delay (feature request)

Hi Folks, So… this release is mostly about chords. Chords is a big part of what touchscaper is all about, so I wanted to explore that a bit further with the new chord “explorer” - hopefully you might find it an interesting source of inspiration. Also, lots of other little fixes and tweaks. MIDI support is in progress, but not ready for release just yet - thanks for your patience. Tap the grid icon on the main looper view Please also note the following changes: The sequence "Mute" part option is no more - simply tap the active sound to mute that part. The swing "dancing people" button on the main looper has been replaced with a sequence grid view button. Open the tempo view to adjust swing settings. I hope you like the new grid view - I think it's a lot of fun! I'll try and do some proper tutorials (much requested!), although MIDI features (in progress) are now top priority. The user guide on touchscaper.com should also be up to date by the time you read this - sorry it was getting a little behind, version-wise.
