TrainsPh tells you what an LRT, MRT or PNR ride actually costs and when the next train is, and it does it without a signal.
FARES YOU CAN CHECK
Every fare was read off the operator's own published matrix - LRMC's for LRT-1, LRTA's for LRT-2, the DOTr's distance bands for MRT-3, and PNR's for the PNR services running today - and each line shows the date its fares took effect. Pick two stations for the Single Journey Ticket or beep card price, with the student, senior citizen and PWD discount if you ask for it. Where PNR has not published a fare, the app says so instead of guessing.
Trips that cross lines are priced honestly. The interchange is outside the fare gates, so the app says it is two tickets and shows both.
No beep card? On MRT-3 and LRT-2 each station says which bank cards, phones and QR codes work at the gates.
THE MAP IS HOME
The app opens on the network drawn from real coordinates, not a schematic. Tap a station for its next trains, its last train today and what is around it. Tap two and it draws the route, prices it, and opens the full trip: the walk between lines, the second ticket and which car to board.
LIVE TRAINS
Trains that riders on board are sharing move along the real track. Where nobody is sharing, predicted trains fill in from the published headway, drawn hollow and labelled predicted, so a guess never passes for a sighting. Tap a train for minutes to each station ahead and, on MRT-3, which side the doors open, or follow it on the map.
SHARING YOUR RIDE, IF YOU CHOOSE
Off until you tap Start ride. You get a stop alarm and your trip on the lock screen, and riders ahead see your train coming. It keeps working with your phone in your pocket, iOS shows its location indicator the whole time, and it publishes nothing while you walk or wait. Stop, and your live position is deleted at once. When your train left and how long it took between stations are kept for 90 days, with no name, so predictions improve. There is no account.
WAKE ME AT MY STOP
Your phone works out your stop from its own position, so it goes off underground and with no signal. On PNR it is booked from the timetable: pick your train and the phone goes off ten minutes before it is due.
PNR, WHAT RUNS AND WHAT DOES NOT
PNR runs two services today, Halang Dos to Lucena and Lupi Viejo to Naga. The app shows their fares and timetable, and marks the rest of the line as suspended, with the date it stopped. PNR starts hidden on the map; one tap in Settings shows it.
WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL
Stations, fares, timetables and service hours are built into the app. Corrections arrive quietly when there is a connection.
SAVED TRIPS AND NEAREST STATION
Save the trip you take every day and it is one tap away, on the Fares tab and in the home-screen widget. Ask for the nearest station and your location is read on your phone, compared against the stations in the app, and discarded.
HOW BUSY IT IS
Each station shows the expected crowd for the hour, and anyone can update it with one tap - Walang pila, Mahaba, or Sobrang siksik. Riders can also say a train just left, the queue is long or an escalator is down; a report shows from the first rider, marked unconfirmed until three agree. Reports are anonymous and deleted after 90 days.
SERVICE ALERTS, ON YOUR HOME SCREEN
Suspensions and major disruptions, each dated and linked to its source. The widget shows the most serious one and your first saved trip. Turn on notifications for your lines, and nothing else is ever sent.
NO ADS, NO ACCOUNT
No sign-up, no advertising, no ad SDK, and your advertising identifier is not read. The app counts which screens you open and which fares you look up, carrying no location and nothing you type, and tells you so when it first opens. Switch it off in Settings.
In English and Filipino. Covers LRT-1, LRT-2, MRT-3 and PNR. Independent, and not operated by the DOTr, the LRTA, the MRTA or PNR.
• Filipino now reads right for one: "1 min" and "1 pasahero".
• Small fixes.
