For decades, boaters have set sail with nothing but a radio and a navigation system to help them communicate with other people on the water, but with Sea People, all that changes. Part social media platform, part journey tracker, it helps you connect with boaters near and far, record your routes and share your location with friends and family back home.
What we love: Discovering new friends who are sailing nearby. The live map lets you filter by things such as interests or who’s on board, so you can meet up to go surfing or arrange a playdate for the kids. Tap into their profile to learn more and send a message. You can even see who’s open to dating.

Quick tip: Need help with a mechanical issue? Or looking for advice navigating a new area? Send out a Hail within a given radius to find someone who can lend a helping hand.
Meet the creator: Sea People was created by sailors who have devoted their lives to finding adventure on the water, including influencers Riley Whitelum and Elayna Carausu (better known as Sailing La Vagabonde) and the founding members of the Young Cruisers Association, Logan and Caroline Rowell and Brian Currier – along with some help from the former CTO of Shopify, Jean-Michel Lemieux.
