Fridgify
Fridge, Pantry & Expiry
Free · In-App Purchases
Cook from your pantry, save your own recipes, scan as you shop, capture prices and best-before dates, and keep everything organized in Fridgify.
Ever throw away food and feel that little sting of guilt?
Yeah, us too. That's why we built Fridgify.
Keep track of what you have, plan meals around your pantry, shop without forgetting things, and actually use what you buy. Save time, save money, and waste less food.
Why you'll love it
• Cook what you already have – Fridgify matches recipes to your pantry and shows what you can cook now, what is only one or two ingredients away, and what is still missing
• Your own cookbooks – Save your own recipes, type them in naturally, or photograph a cookbook page and let Fridgify read the ingredients and steps
• Shop smarter – Shared shopping lists with real notifications, plus a scanner that moves everything you buy straight into your cart
• Quick Add – Type "2x apples, 1 milk" and Fridgify turns it into items for you
• Scan barcodes – Point the camera at a product and it fills itself in. The product database lives on your phone, so nobody learns what you buy
• Read dates from the label – Fridgify can pick up the printed best-before date while you scan, or you can snap it directly with the camera
• Scan receipts – Photograph your receipt and match prices to what you bought. Fridgify remembers what you paid and can show unit prices next time
• Stay ahead of waste – One daily heads-up before food expires, with actions right on the lock screen
• Share & sync – Keep your household's pantry, fridge and shopping list in sync
• Privacy first – End-to-end encrypted, no account required, no tracking, no ads. Even we can't read your data
• Works offline – Add items, scan products and use your pantry without internet. Sync catches up when you're back online
• Learns from you – Fridgify remembers your corrections and preferences on your device, so adding the same products gets faster over time
Built for what comes next
Fridgify already reads the new 2D codes coming to product packaging through GS1 Digital Link and "Sunrise 2027". If a code contains a best-before date, Fridgify can fill it in automatically.
All features. No paywalls. No "premium" nonsense.
We built Fridgify because food waste sucks and staying organized shouldn't require another subscription. Every feature works without paying a cent.
If Fridgify saves you from tossing groceries, you can support development with a one-time tip or an optional subscription.
Use it free? That's cool too. Seriously.
Built in Germany. Shaped by your feedback.

more FIXED IN 1.4.1
- New iPhone? If Fridgify is restored without the encryption keys for your data, it now explains what happened and lets you restore a backup or start fresh. Before, sign-in could fail silently in the background.
- Automatic backups now let you know if they stop working, for example after moving to a new phone. An existing backup protected by different keys is kept safe and is never overwritten or removed automatically.
- Backups now also preserve the nicknames you gave household members.
- If your iPhone's clock is wrong, Fridgify tells you instead of quietly failing to sync.
ALSO NEW IN 1.4
- Fridgify on iPad. See your whole pantry at once, with one column for each storage location and what expires next right at the top. Pin the shopping list beside it and drag items straight across. Receipts, Settings and Your Impact make use of the extra space too.
- Counter Mode for iPad. Leave your household's join code on screen and Fridgify creates a fresh one after someone joins.
- iPhone Duo. Fridgify adapts to every shape: compact when closed, the full iPad-style layout when open, and clear of the crease when folded halfway.
- Bonjour and cześć. Fridgify now speaks French and Polish, including Quick Add and recipe collections. Found a translation that sounds wrong? You can report the exact phrase from Settings.

- Counter Mode for iPad. Leave your household's join code on screen and Fridgify creates a fresh one after someone joins.
- iPhone Duo. Fridgify adapts to every shape: a compact layout when closed, the full iPad-style layout when open, and an interface that stays clear of the crease when folded halfway.
- Bonjour and cześć. Fridgify now speaks French and Polish, including Quick Add and recipe collections.
- Translation feedback. Found something that sounds wrong? You can now report the exact phrase from Settings.
IMPROVED
- Navigation throughout the app is more reliable, especially when moving between Settings and other tabs.
- Background sync is more reliable on slow connections.
- Setup screens and lists now fit smaller displays properly.
STILL FRESH
- 1.3: Recipes. See what you can cook from your pantry, add what's missing to the shopping list, or photograph a cookbook page and let Fridgify read it for you.

FIXED
- Household sync is now much more reliable. Changes made offline or while the app was closed could sometimes arrive out of order or not appear on other devices at all. This is now fixed on both sides, so everyone should stay in sync. If your household is already out of sync, pull down to refresh twice on each device once.
- New items now arrive on other devices with the correct timestamp, so later edits are no longer mistaken for older changes.
- Pending changes are no longer lost if a login or device certificate needs to be renewed. Fridgify reconnects and sends them afterwards.
- Personal items copied into a household now get new IDs, preventing sync problems if the same pantry was previously used to create another household.
STILL FRESH
- 1.3: recipes matched to your pantry, your own cookbooks, shopping with the scanner, and best-before dates read straight from the label.
- 1.2: scan any barcode. Products are recognized offline on your phone, so nobody learns what you buy.

1.3.1 19 Sept
NEW
* Recipes: a new tab. Download a recipe collection in your language and Fridgify checks it against your pantry: what you can cook right now, what is only one or two ingredients away, and what is missing goes on the shopping list with one tap. Set the servings and the amounts adjust with them. Filter by diet, and where a swap works ("instead of butter"), the recipe tells you. The collection downloads as a single pack, only when you choose to. Which recipes you open stays on your phone.
* Cookbooks: your own recipes next to the collection. Photograph a page from a cookbook and Fridgify reads the ingredients and steps from it, or write a recipe in plain words ("200 g flour, 2 eggs"). Books get covers in colors you pick.
* Shopping with the scanner: open the scanner from the Shopping tab and everything you scan lands in the cart, the bought section of your list. Scan the receipt afterwards and the prices are added. At the end of the trip, unpack the cart into your pantry. Things that never belong in the pantry can stay out.
* Dates from the label: while scanning a barcode, Fridgify can also read the printed best-before date next to it (you can switch this off). Every best-before field now has a camera button, and you can type the date exactly as it is printed, like "30.6." or "07 2027", without using the date picker.
* Prices: Fridgify remembers what you paid for each product and shows the unit price. In a household, prices are shared only if you have turned on shared learning.
* Everywhere: one pill in the pantry shows all your locations at once, grouped by location.
* Arrange the tab bar: the bottom bar has four slots, and you choose which screens fill them. Insights and "Needs a Look" can be tabs now.
* Spices are drawn as jars, with the fill level visible on the shelf.
* Status notices: if the server is down or maintenance is planned, the app tells you. Planned maintenance also shows its time window.
IMPROVED
* Scan review with fewer taps: a scanned item's date, location, category, size and price are all on one sheet. In the review list, a row now unfolds in place instead of opening a second form.
* Adding by hand can use the barcode too: a scan button beside the name fills in what the product database knows while keeping what you already typed.
* Your suggestions screen shows what Fridgify has learned for each product, and you can edit or delete it there.
* Deleting can now be undone everywhere.
* Rows added by someone else in your household show their stamp instead of a colored stripe.
* The recipe list is colored by what a dish needs, so you can see at a glance how well it matches your pantry.
* A barcode you never want to add can be ignored for good. You can allow it again under Product Database.
STILL FRESH
* 1.2: scan any barcode. Products are recognized offline on your phone, so nobody learns what you buy.

1.3 18 Sept
NEW
- Count on the row: pantry rows get the same plus and minus as the shopping list. Down means you used some, and Fridgify books it like any other use. If you land on zero, that can be undone too. Up is a restock and keeps the pack size. Hold a button to keep counting.
FIXED
- "Needs a look" rows stay one line high. When an item is both opened and dated, the "opened" chip moves under the name instead of squeezing it out.
- Recent Activity in Insights lists the newest entries first.
- The Undo button no longer breaks across two lines.
- Household links from the German site (fridgify.app/de/join/...) open the app now, not the website.
STILL FRESH
- 1.2.4: a "Needs a look" list above your inventory: expired, running out soon, already opened.
- 1.2: scan any barcode. Products are recognized offline on your phone, so nobody learns what you buy.
Wishes and ideas: support@fridgify.app
1.2.6 6 Sept
FIXED
- New iPhone, old connection: after moving to a new phone, Fridgify could lose its link to the server for good and keep reporting a failed sync. It now sets itself up again on the first launch, and your shared groups come back on their own.
- Changes you make while the app can't reach the server stay queued until they are delivered, however long that takes, and they travel with your backup.
- Joining a group with a code you already used now says so, instead of reporting a pending request.
IMPROVED
- If something ever goes wrong with the connection, support can walk you through recording a technical log in the app. It is off unless you turn it on, you read all of it before sending, and it never contains your items or lists.
STILL FRESH
- 1.2.4: a "Needs a look" list above your inventory: expired, running out soon, already opened.
- 1.2: scan any barcode. Products are recognized offline on your phone, so nobody learns what you buy.
Wishes and ideas: support@fridgify.app
1.2.5 29 Aug
NEW
- A "Needs a look" list, right above your inventory. One tap shows what expired, what runs out soon, and what you have already opened, each in its own segment. Swipe a row to mark it used or tossed, tap it to jump to the item. The row hides itself when there is nothing to see.
IMPROVED
- Siri recognizes more of your items. New items can be spoken right away instead of after the second time you add them.
STILL FRESH
- 1.2.3: add items by voice. Say "Add milk to Fridgify", or say "Add to Fridgify" and answer with "2 liter milk" when you need an amount.
- 1.2: scan any barcode. Products are recognized offline on your phone, so nobody learns what you buy.
Wishes and ideas: support@fridgify.app
1.2.4 20 Aug
NEW
- Talk to Siri instead of typing. "Add milk to Fridgify" or "Put bread on my Fridgify shopping list" lands in one step. Ask "What's expiring in Fridgify?" or "Show my Fridgify shopping list" to hear the answer.
- Need an amount? Say "Add to Fridgify" without naming the item and answer the question with "2 liter milk". Your answer is read the same way typed quick add is.
- Fridgify speaks Shortcuts now. Read your list, check what's running low, mark something as used up, and build your own automations around it.
- Voice adds go to your private inventory unless you say otherwise. The destination lives in Settings, next to the example phrases.
IMPROVED
- Your own categories and storage places now show up in the receipt and scan reviews, instead of quietly falling back to the built-in ones.
- Moving an item to the freezer while reviewing relabels its date, so it says frozen on instead of expires on.
FIXED
- The scanner comes back to life properly. Returning from the review list or from another app used to leave a live camera picture that recognized nothing.
STILL FRESH
- 1.2: scan any barcode. Products are recognized offline on your phone, so nobody learns what you buy. And one daily summary instead of a pile of notifications.
- 1.2.1: decide what your item cards show, and hand your shopping list over as text or a printable PDF.
Wishes and ideas: support@fridgify.app
1.2.3 7 Aug
IMPROVED
- Pounds, ounces and gallons now behave like pounds, ounces and gallons. Using half of a 1 lb pack leaves 8 oz instead of turning into grams, and typing "8 oz" means eight ounces.
- Replacing a group's key asks first and explains what happens, and it takes a short break before the next one.
1.2.2 3 Aug
NEW
- Decide what your item cards show. Pick the details that matter to you, with a live preview in Settings. Works for the pantry and the shopping list.
- Hand the shopping list over: share it as text or print it as a tidy PDF. Select a few items first to share only those.
IMPROVED
- The scanner understands more label formats and stays calm when a scale label is malformed.
- Dates got smarter: the year shows when it isn't this year, there's a new short date style, and a clearer icon for opened items.
- Notification actions always act on today's state, even when the notification sat on the lock screen for a while.
FIXED
- Shared groups: adding items while the group key is still on its way is now handled safely everywhere, and sync error messages stop nagging once everything runs again.
In case 1.2 rushed past you: Fridgify now scans any barcode, recognized offline on your phone so nobody learns what you buy, and sends one daily summary instead of many notifications.
Wishes and ideas: support@fridgify.app
1.2.1 2 Aug
NEW
- Scan barcodes to add items. Point the camera at a product and Fridgify fills in the name from a product database stored right on your phone. No internet needed, no lookup requests: what you scan stays your business.
- Scan the whole haul in one go. Keep scanning, then review everything in a single batch. Even some printed weight labels from supermarket scales work already; we add more formats as we get our hands on them.
- One notification instead of many. Fridgify now sends a single daily summary of what needs attention, and you can act straight from the lock screen: mark it used, give it two more days, or put it back on the shopping list.
- Rather keep your fridge private on the lock screen? Turn on "Hide item names" and the summary stays discreet.
IMPROVED
- Settings is reorganized around what you actually open. Your household comes first, and everything Fridgify has learned now lives in one place.
- Switching between your groups and your personal space now sits right on the main screen. No more digging through Settings.
- Pick a color for your group and one for yourself in it. Shared items show at a glance who added what.
- Clearer feedback everywhere: quiet confirmations, a visible sync status, Undo in more places, and error messages that actually offer a retry.
UNDER THE HOOD
- More security hardening for shared groups. Nothing changes for you, your data is just guarded even more stubbornly.
The product database covers Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Czechia and Poland, plus a Europe-wide pack for everything in between. If your country is missing, tell us: support@fridgify.app
1.2 30 Jul
This one is pure housekeeping: no new buttons, just fixes.
• Shared groups got more reliable. Membership changes, edits from other devices, and switching between groups now behave in a few corner cases where they didn't.
• Backups carry more of your data: receipt-scanner learning and repeating dates now travel with them.
• Removing a group asks for confirmation first. Deleting things should never be a surprise.
• Less busywork under the hood, which is good for your battery.
1.1.7 16 Jul
NEW
• You asked, here it is: create your own storage locations and categories, hide the ones you never use, and put them in your order. Pick an icon for each. Works in shared groups too, so the whole household sees the same wine cellar.
• Quick add understands locations now. Type "location: cellar" and the item lands where it belongs. Custom locations and categories included.
• Mark items as opened and see since when. Handy for the eternal jar question.
• Add what you paid: items can carry a price now, and prices from scanned receipts no longer get lost when you edit an item.
• Backups grew up: choose your own file naming, sort them into subfolders, and let Fridgify keep only the newest ones so the folder stays tidy.
IMPROVED
• Clearer colors everywhere: expiry badges and labels are easier to read now, in light and dark mode.
• Sync does its own housekeeping in shared groups, keeping things fast and consistent.
• We tightened account security under the hood. Your device now proves it is really yours in more situations. Nothing changes for you, it just got harder for everyone else.
FIXED
• A button in the diagnostics consent sheet was white on white in dark mode. It is visible again.

1.1.5 14 Jul
NEW: Groups, redesigned
Sharing with your household is now front and center. Invites look
like tickets, join requests wait "at the door" until you let them in,
and members get friendly auto-names. Everything stays end-to-end
encrypted: only members can read any of it, not even we can.
NEW: Use just some of it
Half the milk gone? Swipe to use it all, or tap and say how much.
Fridgify now understands amounts and units, and partial use syncs
with your group too.
NEW: Shopping list, smoother
Tap to check items off, edit in a clean sheet, and swipe actions
that finally feel right.
Also in this update:
• Feedback board: see your own posts, browse archived ones, and spot which version shipped your idea
• A gentle reminder to verify your backup password now and then
• Faster receipt recognition and snappier lists
• Lots of small fixes and polish
• Fixed a rare bug that could cause heavy background activity and battery drain on some devices while the phone was locked
To the people whose phones got warm on the nightstand: you don't know who you are, but your batteries do. Thank you, and sorry. — Valentin
