I’m really satisfied with this app, as it offers a wide variety of teachers at different price points, which gives great flexibility. The organization of the platform is also very high-quality, making the learning experience both enjoyable and effective. However, I do have one major downside – the lessons last only 50 minutes. While I understand that this time is planned with the teacher in mind, I believe a full hour would be more fair. In my opinion, even extending the lesson to 55 minutes instead of 50 would make a big difference, as those extra 10 minutes really add up. For the buyer, this can feel a bit disappointing.

The only positive thing about Preply is the app itself - the quality and interface are actually really good. However, everything else makes it frustrating to use. First, there are way too many notifications that you can’t turn off, forcing me to mute the app completely in my phone settings. The cancellation policy is also incredibly unfair: as a student, I have to cancel at least 12 hours in advance, but tutors have no limits and can cancel one minute before the lesson (which actually happened to me). On top of that, the commissions are quite high for both students and teachers. The subscription system is a headache because you have to constantly cancel it - when starting with a new tutor, you never know right away if you will want to continue with them. The absolute biggest nonsense is that if you don’t use all your purchased lessons in a month, they expire! You then have to waste time messaging support just to get them restored. Good app design, but awful platform rules.

Well, tried a couple of times, first time in 2017. Nothing much has changed since then in terms of usability. Honestly, if the tutor is available in some other platform, it’s better to give it a try. Firstly, the UX is really poor. Lesson planner keeps crashing or freezing. Video platform is unusable, I always had to use some other video apps instead. Secondly, it’s just expensive and inflexible. The subscription model doesn’t work out when you want to have classes irregularly. Also, price per hour is not final, and you will for sure realize there is a transaction fee, which is something like… 14%? At least it was in my case. Finally, my wife’s account was deleted after long time of inactivity - fair enough, but the pre-paid amount was never given back to her. My friends complain that the customer support is a joke. The platform looked promising back in 2017, but ended up being disappointing. You will realize you basically pay for a tutor search and a poor calendar/planner.

Preply is a great app for learning languages - middleman between students and teachers. But there's much room for improvement. Generally, the website is much better and easier to use than the app (which kinda negates the meaning of having an app). Also, it doesn't have desktop app for a Mac - view is cut to iPads dimensions. Notifications are kind of spam (too much of them, not only 1 day and 1 hour before the lesson, but all the in-betweens). All in all, great app, will continue to use it - only, apart from already mentioned, option to turn on ads instead of paying fee for Preply during reserving lessons, would be nice :)edit: But to be fair, they have the best customer service, so I know it's only a matter of time till they become the best :P
