I experienced difficulty accessing my profile, even though I had a valid subscription, cell phone number, and all necessary details in place. After spending quite some time trying to locate the appropriate support channel, I eventually submitted a request but unfortunately, without success.However, after posting a comment here, things quickly turned around—almost like magic! Protection and safety only for some

After receiving an unjustified and outrageous ban concerning minor protection, my account - with which, furthermore, I had an already paid subscription - was permanently suspended. I am completely up for an strict policy and punishment of those who indeed misuse or have a negative usage of the app to harm, in any way, another user. It seems to me not only hypocritical, if you read Grindr terms and conditions, yet absolutely nonsense that the team behind allegations and claims against other user’s behaviour are not properly investigated. I, who always have treated users with the respect I also like to receive, have been the recipient of many homophobic, xenophobic and hateful messages and comments from others that have remained unpunished and unaddressed. Which leads me to the conclusion that the app does not help all users equally. This policy of blocking accounts with no information, no proof and not even allowing innocent people to appeal is just unacceptable and unfair. Similarly as the ghosting and cancelling culture we live in, this actions protect very little to the expense of others who end outcasted by an app that prides itself on their inclusiveness.
From solid 5 to a buggy, ad-filled mess

I’m giving this app 2 stars because it’s current functionality leaves a lot to be desired, even though I would have easily rated it 4 or 5 in the past. I’m not sure if whether someone didn’t think the business model through or simply got a bit too creative but it would be great if someone actually reconsidered a few issues: - subscription pricing is completely disconnected from local markets. It should be adjusted to the actual average income in each country, not converted from the US price.- the “who tapped you” feature is poorly designed. Instead of hiding profiles a few hours after sending a tap, it should hide them after the person has actually seen them.- the ad model is too aggressive. Normal app usage is nearly impossible. Ads - often double or even triple - the moment you open someone’s profile (near you). You can’t even close them right away; sometimes you have to wait 30 seconds to the first one, then another 15-30 seconds for the next. That’s absurd.- moderation is another weak point. Bots and Ai- generated profiles promoting shady links or X accounts are everywhere. Reporting them to support rarely helps - you either get no response or a message saying the account “compiles with the guidelines”, which clearly isn’t true. Overall, the app used to be much better, but in it’s current form it’s frustrating to use.

In my experience, Grindr has increasingly become less of a dating or social networking app and more of a platform where psychoactive substances are openly advertised, bought, and sold. Profiles and messages offering drugs appear to be widespread and highly visible. What is particularly concerning is the apparent lack of effective moderation. Despite reporting such activity, it often seems to continue without meaningful intervention, creating the impression that the platform’s administrators knowingly tolerate it. A company operating a platform of this scale should take reports of illegal drug sales seriously and enforce its own rules consistently. Based on what I have observed, Grindr is failing to provide a properly moderated and safe environment for its users.
We’ve improved the app to make it even better: less bugs, more connection. To make sure you never miss out on new features, keep your automatic updates turned on.
