TellerBuddy: Calorie Count
Food Diary & Weight Log
Free · In-App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Free, no subscription: scan a barcode, confirm, done. Calories, water and weight in one place. Photo recognition, scale and backup via subscription, 3 days free.
TellerBuddy is a food diary for anyone who wants to keep track without handing over their data.
Logging takes two taps: pick the product, confirm the amount, done.
FREE TO USE, EXTRAS WITH A SUBSCRIPTION
The core of TellerBuddy is free and needs no subscription. Photo recognition, the Bluetooth kitchen scale (scale bought separately) and cloud backup need a subscription. New subscribers get a 3-day free trial; it then renews automatically and can be cancelled any time in your iOS settings. Price and term are shown in the app before you buy.
FREE, NO SUBSCRIPTION NEEDED
• Scan a barcode: over 2.8 million products in the catalogue, from brands to supermarket own labels.
• Text search and basic foods such as rice, egg or apple, with no packaging needed.
• Product missing? Take three photos of the front, the nutrition table and the ingredients, and the app reads the details. After a quick review it is in the catalogue for everyone.
• From the counter: cold cuts and cheese without a fixed barcode are found by name.
• Create your own recipes and products once, then log them with a single tap.
• Separated by meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack, each with its own total.
• Calories, protein, carbs, fat and, if you want, sugar.
• The app works out your daily target and macro split from your profile, and you can change them at any time.
• Water, steps and intermittent fasting run alongside.
• Log your weight, set a target weight, see the trend.
• Widgets for the home screen and lock screen: calories left, macros, water, fasting window, day overview.
• Apple Health read-only: date of birth, sex, height, weight, steps, active energy, body fat and BMI. TellerBuddy writes nothing back.
WITH A SUBSCRIPTION ONLY
• Photograph instead of typing: from a picture of your meal, the recognition suggests foods and nutrition values.
• Bluetooth kitchen scale: a compatible scale is not included and must be bought separately. Once connected it zeroes itself, you put the ingredient on, and the weight is in the app straight away. The tested models are listed in the settings and on tellerbuddy.com.
• Cloud backup and sync between your devices.
WHAT WE DO DIFFERENTLY
• There is not a single third-party SDK in the app: no ad network, no advertising ID, no recognising you across other apps and websites. That is why TellerBuddy never asks for tracking permission.
• The servers are in Germany, and the operator is a German company based in Göttingen.
• Usable without signing in: if you don't create an account, your diary, profile and weight stay on your device, with no subscription needed. An account with Apple is only needed to submit products, for photo recognition and for the backup on the server.
• If you do sign in, it is only with Sign in with Apple: no password, no phone number, no newsletter.
• Photo recognition only runs after explicit consent, and you can withdraw it at any time. The image is processed for the recognition and then discarded.
• You delete your account and data yourself in the settings. Before that, you can export your profile, diary and weight to a file.
• No streaks, no badges, no points. The app keeps count, it does not push you.
GOOD TO KNOW
TellerBuddy is not a medical device and does not replace medical or dietary advice. Nutrition values and calculations are estimates and can be inaccurate. If you have an eating disorder, an illness or any medical questions, please consult a qualified professional.
The interface is available in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Polish. The app is intended for people aged 18 and over. Search, recognition and backup need an internet connection; the diary itself is on your device.
Product data from Open Food Facts under the Open Database License (ODbL). Basic foods based on the CIQUAL nutrition table.
