TellerBuddy is a subscription app: every feature in this description needs a subscription, none of it is free for good. New users get a 3-day free trial; after that a monthly or yearly subscription runs, renews automatically and can be cancelled at any time in your iOS settings. Price and term are shown in the app before you buy.
INCLUDED IN THE SUBSCRIPTION
• Scan a barcode: over 2.8 million products in the catalogue, from brands to supermarket own labels.
• Text search and basic foods such as rice, egg or apple, with no packaging needed.
• Product missing? Take three photos of the front, the nutrition table and the ingredients, and the app reads the details. After a quick review it is in the catalogue for everyone.
• From the counter: cold cuts and cheese without a fixed barcode are found by name.
• Create your own recipes and products once, then log them with a single tap.
• Separated by meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack, each with its own total.
• Calories, protein, carbs, fat and, if you want, sugar.
• The app works out your daily target and macro split from your profile, and you can change them at any time.
• Water, steps and intermittent fasting run alongside.
• Log your weight, set a target weight, see the trend.
• Widgets for the home screen and lock screen: calories left, macros, water, fasting window, day overview.
• Apple Health read-only: height, weight, steps and active energy. TellerBuddy writes nothing back.
• Photograph instead of typing: from a picture of your meal, the recognition suggests foods and nutrition values.
• Bluetooth kitchen scale: a compatible scale is not included and must be bought separately. Once connected it zeroes itself, you put the ingredient on, and the weight is in the app straight away. The tested models are listed in the settings and on tellerbuddy.com.
• Cloud backup and sync between your devices.
WHAT WE DO DIFFERENTLY
• There is not a single third-party SDK in the app: no ad network, no advertising ID, no recognising you across other apps and websites. That is why TellerBuddy never asks for tracking permission.
• The servers are in Germany, and the operator is a German company based in Göttingen.
• Usable without signing in: if you don't create an account, all data stays on your device. An account with Apple is only needed for photo recognition, your own products and the backup on the server. The subscription is required either way.
• If you do sign in, it is only with Sign in with Apple: no password, no phone number, no newsletter.
• Photo recognition only runs after explicit consent, and you can withdraw it at any time. The image is processed for the recognition and then discarded.
• You delete your account and data yourself in the settings. Before that, you can export everything to a file.
• No streaks, no badges, no points. The app keeps count, it does not push you.

TellerBuddy is not a medical device and does not replace medical or dietary advice. Nutrition values and calculations are estimates and can be inaccurate. If you have an eating disorder, an illness or any medical questions, please consult a qualified professional.
The interface is available in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Polish. The app is intended for people aged 18 and over. Search, recognition and backup need an internet connection; the diary itself is on your device.

The barcode scanner and camera are now more reliable: after a phone call or switching to another app, the camera restarts by itself instead of staying black. If iOS blocks the camera, TellerBuddy now tells you what helps.
When you scan several barcodes in a row, the next product no longer takes over the portion setting of the previous one. You can switch freely between portions and grams again.
Serving sizes written with a decimal comma, such as 12,5 g, are now read correctly. Previously they could turn into far too large a portion, and some products offered no portion option at all.
