Version 2.00 is a new MCX Basic: the interpreter was rewritten and now follows MSX-BASIC 2.0, like MCX Basic for Mac. • Graphics: SCREEN 2 to 8 with LINE, CIRCLE, PAINT, DRAW, sprites, the colour palette, pages and COPY, and text on the graphics screen. • Sound: PLAY with three voices, SOUND and BEEP. • More of the language: several statements on a line, IF … THEN … ELSE, ON … GOTO and GOSUB, error handling, DEF FN, PRINT USING, integer, single and double precision numbers, and arrays with any number of dimensions. • 45 sample programs that load with one tap, among them new games: Snake, Pyramid, Bricks, Saucers, Road race, Lander and Sky ace. • A key bar above the keyboard with Esc, the arrow keys, Space, Return and F1–F10. The arrows repeat while held, so the games can be played by touch. • A new help with a page for every command and an example, and the user manual as a PDF. • Files: open .bas files from the Files app, Open Recent, Save As, Share and Print. Programs written for earlier versions may need small changes: only the first two characters of a variable name count, and a name cannot contain a keyword. MCX Basic now needs iOS 15 or later.
