A pleasant surprise.

I didn’t expect much from this game when I first saw it but I am a fan of the series so I decided to give it a try.

This game however surprised me with the progression of the units and the heroes. There are lots of things to do in this game so it is a pretty good “time killer”.

The only thing I do not like about this game so far is graphics, but it is my personal opinion as a huge fan of Hmm 3 I prefer less anime like graphics but more old-style. That is why this games gets 4 stars from me.

If you are looking for a Hmm 3 replacement this is not the game, but if you are a fan of the Hmm series overall give this game try you will pleasantly surprised.

Pay to win

All the good sides this game has are brought down by heavy pay to win mechanics.

When you start, you’ll get the feeling this is a single player game with pvp elements. In reality, it’s pretty much pvp as end game content and the so called campaign is a grind fest to gather resources needed for troop upgrades. Speaking of upgrades? One of the 3 elements you upgrade is done with the premium currency and you can’t get around it. Same with hero artifacts boosting battle stats - past a certain level you need to use items that can be bought only via premium currency.

So as someone who played day 1 and has been in top 300 in most metrics, it’s quite frustrating to realize you’ve hit a glass ceeling. Because those who pay big money get them big benefits. Like the strongest units availble, which can be obtained on timed events via purchases with premium currency.

Long story short - nice game to pass some time, money sink should you want to play more competitive. 2/5 from me for good battle mechanics and nice graphics.

And the developer gave a vague answer to a previous version of my review, saying that „strategy and planning” is more important than antyhing else and you can earn most things for free. Right... most is the key word so get your credit cards out! :D

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know your opinion. Just so you know, you can actually unlock most of the contents and progress in the game without paying. Instead of purchases, strategy and tactic sometimes matter more in Era of Chaos!

Great but not really

Tbh this game is perfect. The only weakness is vip status. Because of that you are limited to buy things such as energy(which is most crucial. Please remove energy buying limit!
