Weather Source

Don't trust just one forecast

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Weather apps usually pick one model and call it the forecast. Weather Source compares seven, so you can see when they agree, when they don't, and which one to trust. Most weather apps show you one number. Weather Source shows you what every major forecast model actually says, so you know when they agree, when they disagree, and which one to trust for your location. WHY MORE THAN ONE MODEL? Every forecast you've ever seen came from a numerical weather model. Each model is a supercomputer running its own simulation of the atmosphere, with slightly different starting data and slightly different math. GFS (USA), ECMWF (Europe), ICON (Germany), and the rest can disagree by 5° or more for the same hour at the same place. Apps that use a single source hide that uncertainty. Weather Source surfaces it. WHAT'S INSIDE • Seven independent forecast models from the world's top weather centers, side by side • A consensus card that shows, at a glance, how tightly the models agree on today's high • Interactive Compare chart that lets you drag across any future hour or day to see what every enabled model predicts for temperature, precipitation, or wind • Hourly chart you can drag horizontally to read the exact value at any future hour • Forecasts for the next 10 days with highs, lows, conditions, and rain probability • Live weather station map where you can tap any METAR station for the latest observation, with wind direction shown in compass points • Day and night backdrop that flips automatically at sunrise and sunset • Pull down anywhere to refresh MAKE IT YOURS • Choose your default forecast model per location • Toggle which models appear in Compare • Use your own units for temperature (Celsius or Fahrenheit), wind (km/h, mph, knots, or m/s), and precipitation (millimeters or inches) • Save as many locations as you want, and search any city on Earth LIVE DATA, NO ACCOUNTS Weather Source needs no account and never asks you to sign up. There are no ads, no tracking, and no analytics. Forecasts come from Open‑Meteo's free weather API. Live station observations come straight from NOAA's Aviation Weather Center. Your location data never leaves your device. WHO IT'S FOR Pilots reading aviation winds. Sailors plotting a passage. Hikers checking mountain forecasts. Photographers chasing golden hour. Growers timing irrigation. Storm chasers comparing models. Commuters who just want to know if it'll rain. Anyone tired of weather apps that pretend the forecast is a single confident number when it isn't. DATA SOURCES • Open‑Meteo (open-meteo.com) provides the forecasts from multiple weather models, plus city search • NOAA Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov) provides METAR observations from thousands of stations worldwide Weather Source is for people who care which model their forecast came from.
