Part of the blocHub suite (www.bloc-hub.com), MiData is your personal application for gathering and recording data. Installed on your mobile device, the application allows the user to capture and tag freeform data and information such as audio, images and video.
It also allows the user to follow predefined checklists and processes to gather data in a structured manner, covering a wide range of business tasks. Examples include formal product inspections, how-to guides, expenses claim and HSE observations. The application is able to work remotely, without internet connection. Data are stored locally until an internet connection becomes available and then can be uploaded to blocHub.
The checklists can be configured in the central blocHub content manager. The checklists are made up of tasks. Examples of tasks include asking the user a question; asking them to make an observations by completing a table of data; taking photographs; recording audio or taking video; adding documents and building 3D models from photographic scans. Images of items such as serial number plates can be automatically converted to text and stored appropriately to minimise the workload on the user when identifying the item of interest.
3D models can be built using a photogrammetry technique where the user is guided to take a series of images of the item of interest. The images can then be uploaded to a remote server when an internet connection is available, which converts the images into a 3D model of the item of interest.
