This update brings new ways to see and keep your work, sturdier connections, and stronger security. NEW • Web Preview: open web apps running on your server, like dev servers or Markdown previews, right next to the terminal. Synapse forwards the port for you. • Inline images: Sixel and iTerm2 (imgcat) images now display in the terminal. • Session recording: record any tab with ⇧⌘R or from the tab menu, then replay or share it from Recordings. • Notifications: get notified when a task or a coding agent in another tab needs your attention (OSC 9 / OSC 777). A bell marks the tab. • Paste and Copy buttons in the key panel, for use without a keyboard. • The Connections screen now fits every iPhone and iPad size. • Experimental: Kitty graphics and keyboard protocol (Settings → Experimental), so coding agents can tell Shift+Enter from Enter. CONNECTIONS • Dropped connections are detected within about a minute, and the keepalive no longer sends stray keystrokes to vim, tmux and other apps. • tmux control mode: after a dropped connection, Synapse reattaches to the same session and restores the screen. Panes keep their content when you split or close them, and Detach, keys, paste, copy and snippets now have on-screen controls. • Mosh connects by host name, including Tailscale MagicDNS names. In Auto mode it falls back to SSH when Mosh can't start. Fixed crashes when closing Mosh sessions. • iCloud sync works again on iOS 26.5 and later, and Settings shows its status. • Faster output for heavy streams. Right and middle clicks now reach mouse-aware apps. SECURITY • Host keys are now verified for SFTP, split panes, reconnects, the Run SSH Command shortcut and the Files app, not just new terminal tabs. • App Lock now covers open screens such as SFTP and Settings, and blocks keyboard input while locked. • Remote programs can no longer read your clipboard without asking: clipboard reads are off by default and ask every time when turned on. Remote copy (OSC 52) is more reliable. FIXES • Passphrase-protected OpenSSH keys now import correctly. • ProxyCommand with nc -X connect now works.

Say "SSH to production in Synapse" to Siri. - Mosh Support — Connect over Mosh for a resilient, roaming-friendly terminal experience. Synapse auto-selects SSH or Mosh based on server availability, with seamless fallback to SSH if Mosh is unavailable. Jump hosts are fully supported alongside Mosh. - SSH Agent Forwarding — Forward your SSH identity to remote hosts during a session, enabling hop-through connections without copying private keys to servers. - Backup & Restore — Export all connections and known hosts to an encrypted .synapse-backup file. Restore on a new device with a single import. Backups are protected with AES-256 and a passphrase you choose. - Encrypted SSH Key Import — Import passphrase-protected OpenSSH private keys (Ed25519, ECDSA, RSA). Your passphrase is never stored — only the unlocked key is written to the Keychain. - Help & About Screen — Keyboard shortcut reference, SSH config import guide, and support links, all in one place under Settings. IMPROVEMENTS - Automatic Reconnection — When a connection drops, Synapse retries with exponential backoff and shows a live countdown. Tap "Connect Now" to skip the wait. - SFTP Transfer Control — Cancel downloads and uploads mid-flight. Files over 500 MB now prompt for confirmation. Partial downloads are cleaned up automatically on cancel. - Terminal Engine — Upgraded SwiftTerm for better rendering performance and improved escape sequence compatibility. - Clearer Error Messages — Connection failures now show plain-language explanations: "Port closed or service not running," "Host unreachable," "Authentication failed," and so on, instead of raw system codes. - Session Recordings — Duration is now shown in the recordings list. A notification confirms the filename when a recording is saved. - Host Key Security — If a server's host key has changed since your last connection, Synapse warns you explicitly before proceeding, helping detect unexpected server changes. - Broadcast Input — Added Select All / Deselect All to the broadcast picker, and the list now stays in sync if a tab closes while the picker is open. BUG FIXES Fixed a potential crash when connecting through a jump host that required back-to-back host key prompts. Fixed session recording toast always showing "Copied" instead of the saved filename. Fixed WKWebView memory leak that could accumulate across terminal sessions. Fixed backup encryption using a weak key derivation method (now uses PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations and a random salt). Fixed Keychain errors incorrectly triggering repeated Face ID prompts on reconnect. Fixed silent failure when saving the encryption key to the Keychain on some devices. Improved Swift concurrency throughout for more stable behavior during background/foreground transitions.
