Experts’ opinion:
PCMag: “[Proton VPN’s] is a slick VPN with an excellent collection of advanced features, and it has the best free subscription plan we've seen. Few competitors can match its mix of affordability, features, and design. For all that, it gets a rare five-star rating and earns our Editors' Choice award”
TechRadar: “The completely free tier is something no other competitor [...] offers.
Wired: "The best VPN" "Overall, Proton VPN is very fast"

User Location Confidentiality Breach
Childish Thoughs
Dear users, please be aware, it seems that the free version of Proton VPN software discloses the user’s location without its knowing or consent to third parties (possibly government agencies). As a free user you cannot choose your own country and server, this choice belongs to Proton VPN and it is not randomly allocated to you. As an example, they might select Netherlands Amsterdam server, find out your location and disclose it to third parties. Be aware!
Developer Response
This is untrue. We take data security very seriously. Access to our infrastructure and Secure Core servers is tightly controlled. Proton VPN does not log, has a transparency report, and operates in a more trustworthy manner compared to most VPNs. It is fully open-source and independently audited. More details can be found at https://protonvpn.com/blog/is-protonvpn-trustworthy.Furthermore, the default auto-connect option is designed to connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. That said, you still have the option to switch to another randomly allocated server, or you can upgrade to connect to a specific server of your choice (https://protonvpn.com/pricing). In any case, the Free plan provides the same level of privacy and security as our paid plans. We make no compromises.
Something is off

Nothing with my phone but why does ot not want to work quick on my pc, i don't need to specify more, it should just work equally across any official platform it operates, not only it's 10x harder to turn on but it slows the internet speed by 5 times, nowhere in your specifications was something noted as "internet speed slowed down 5 times for free trial!"
Developer Response
Hi! Please note that the Free plan has no bandwidth or speed limits. We do not limit the bandwidth of your connection, so connection speeds may be influenced by many other factors such as your native ISP speed, location, server load, network setup, etc. You could try some of the tips in this guide to improve your connection speeds: https://protonvpn.com/support/increase-vpn-speeds/.If you think you may be experiencing an issue, please contact us at https://protonvpn.com/support-form for help.
