Why notify all my contacts i have joined telegram?i only need the app to use some groups to get notifications, there are people im trying to avoid the contact with!! Right away, in a few minutes I get a few messages from them, this made me so angry. When joining the app, would be nice to ask me if i want all the people to know i joined. If im joining just to use the groups, its pretty clear i dont have any intention of chatting with anyone so theres no point, very unhappy with this feature

The message insisted Telegram refused to comply, presenting this as a defense of free speech.However, French authorities denied making any such request, labeling the claim as entirely false. This incident is a clear example of how Telegram can be used to circulate misleading narratives and foreign propaganda, especially when tensions are high. The platform’s lack of moderation and focus on anonymity make it easy for coordinated groups to spread fake news and destabilize public trust.While Telegram promotes itself as a champion of privacy and free expression, in practice, it has become a tool for amplifying disinformation that threatens democratic processes. For Romanian users, this means being constantly vigilant against manipulation and fabricated stories, often with geopolitical motives.Telegram urgently needs to take responsibility for the spread of harmful content on its platform, or it risks becoming a channel for destabilization and propaganda in countries like mine.
Data leak, no free option for germany

I recently moved to Germany and had to change my phone number. To my surprise, Telegram is no longer free for me – it only offers a paid option here. I find it strange and frustrating that such a basic communication app suddenly requires payment without any free tier available.Even worse, after giving up my old number, it was reassigned to another person. That new owner was able to log in to my Telegram account just by using my old number. This means they instantly had access to my private messages, contacts, and data without my consent. I was shocked that Telegram does not automatically delete or disconnect an account when a number changes hands.Phone numbers get recycled all the time, and it’s unacceptable that Telegram doesn’t have better safeguards in place. Why isn’t data wiped or at least locked when a number is reassigned? This puts user privacy at serious risk.

Yesterday, on the day of the elections in Romania, I received a message on Telegram sent by them. It contained a forwarded post attributed to Pavel Durov. This post falsely claimed that a 'certain Western European government' (implying France, as they later suggested) had contacted Telegram, requesting them to silence conservative voices in Romania before today's presidential elections. The post further stated that Telegram had categorically refused this request, asserting that they would not restrict the freedoms of Romanian users or block political channels. This entire message was massive Russian disinformation propaganda aimed at destabilizing the country. It included the lie about France supposedly requesting censorship on Telegram. So yes, Telegram is a propaganda app that helps Russia's puppets in Romania spread massive disinformation, including fabricated stories like the one involving France, in my country and destabilize it.
