A new way to enjoy a little wisdom every day. This is one of the biggest updates I've made to Oriens so far. • Daily Quotes — Discover, save, and share thoughts from timeless philosophy, with new widgets and optional daily reminders. • Shan Hai Jing Atlas — Explore an ancient world of Chinese mythology through 42 illustrated cards, an interactive map, and a new immersive reading experience. This is one of my favorite collections I've worked on. • More Stoic wisdom — The Stoicism collection now has 56 cards, with new additions chosen through your votes. You can still help shape future updates in Settings. • A more personal experience — I've refined the first-time experience, reading, reflections, animations, and many small details throughout the app. There's still a lot I want to build. Save the cards you want to return to. Journey now makes it easier to revisit the ideas you've encountered, the practices you've carried into your day, and the reflections you've made along the way. Explore at your own pace. We've refined the Wisdom library, making collections and your saved cards easier to browse. Help shape what comes next. Our redesigned What's New letter now shares more of the story behind Oriens, introduces recent additions, and lets you vote for future collections. Mencius has arrived. 24 new cards explore compassion, courage, character, and the choices that shape a good life. Your daily card can now follow the sunrise where you are, while I Ching casting feels more natural and tactile with refined three-coin motion and clearer results. We’ve also redesigned the introduction to Oriens and made thoughtful improvements across Journey, Wisdom, sharing, and purchases. As always, there are smaller fixes and refinements throughout. In 1.2.8, you can still tap the sun for your daily chance encounter — or lift it to choose what feels closest to this moment and meet a card that offers a different perspective. A bigger update than the version number suggests. • Today’s Practice — carry one idea from your daily card into the rest of your day, then return to reflect on what stayed. • A deeper Journey — practices, reflections, moments, weekly lookbacks, and keepsakes now have a better place to gather over time. • Your Library — Wisdom has been redesigned around collection and ownership, with library stats, filters, clearer collection states, and a growing Lifetime Library. • I Ching & Zen Koans — explore a complete 64-card I Ching collection and 36 Zen koans, with new artwork and carefully reviewed stories and translations. • Better sharing — create artwork cards, wisdom cards, wallpapers, and simple “send to someone” moments without turning Oriens into a social app. • Seasonal Letters — on solar-term days, Oriens can now quietly look back at the season you’ve just passed through and point toward what comes next. Also included: smoother transitions, visual refinements, dark-mode improvements, and fixes across Today, Journey, Wisdom, and purchases.

Oriens 1.2 — From Reading to Practice This update makes your daily moment with Oriens more personal and meaningful. • Today’s Practice — Each daily card now comes with a small practice to carry into your day, with an optional reflection when you return. • A redesigned Journey — Your cards, practices, reflections, and saved wisdom now come together as one personal path you can revisit over time. • A Moment to Look Back — Every 7 active days, receive a quiet reflection on the ideas and moments you’ve explored. • Wisdom worth returning to — Saved cards may gently reappear from time to time, inviting you to see an old idea with fresh eyes. • A refreshed Tao Te Ching collection — 25 illustrations have been completely redrawn, bringing a calmer and more cohesive visual experience to the collection. We’ve also refined card reading, animations, onboarding, and the overall daily experience throughout the app. Coming next: I Ching. The Book of Changes is coming to Oriens in the next update.

This update brings one of the foundations of Eastern thought to Oriens. The Analects of Confucius is now available as a new collection, with 46 beautifully illustrated cards to explore timeless ideas about learning, humility, friendship, and living with integrity.
