A USB cable can hack your iPhone.
Some charging cables you can buy online today look identical to ordinary ones, but the moment they're plugged in, they pretend to be a USB keyboard. They type commands automatically at a speed no human could match, opening Safari to dangerous websites, installing hidden settings, stealing files via AirDrop, and worse. The best-known example is the "O.MG cable," sold openly online and used in real-world attacks.
iOS has a setting that blocks this kind of attack at the operating system level. Most iPhone users have never heard of it, and the default is wide open.
CableSentry closes that gap in three ways:
LEARN — Understand the threat
A built-in library explains the specific kinds of malicious cables and chargers you should know about: cables that pretend to be keyboards, public charging stations that secretly try to steal your data ("juice jacking"), cables that damage your phone with bad voltage, and more. Every entry uses plain language, and tells you exactly what to do to protect yourself.
CHECK — Harden your iPhone
CableSentry watches how your iPhone behaves when you plug in cables and figures out whether your iOS settings are protecting you. If they're not, the app walks you through changing them — step by step, with iOS screenshots — and verifies the fix works the next time you plug in a normal cable.
PROTECT — Catch a suspicious cable in the act
When you have a cable you're not sure about, open the Watch tab before plugging it in. CableSentry sets a hidden trap: any commands the cable tries to type are caught safely, before they reach your phone's apps. CableSentry then translates what the cable tried to do into a plain-English summary, like:
"This cable tried to open Spotlight, type a web address, and press Return — in 47 milliseconds. No human types that fast."
You can save what was caught as a file to share with a security expert, or just unplug and walk away. The garbage can is your friend. You should prioritize brand name cables.

WHAT CABLESENTRY CAN AND CAN'T DO
CableSentry only protects you while it's open on your screen. iOS doesn't let security apps work invisibly in the background, and we don't pretend otherwise. Watch mode is something you turn on deliberately when you want to inspect a cable. The Checkup tab also works passively, learning about your iOS settings every time you charge.
CableSentry only detects cables that pretend to be keyboards — the most dangerous and most common attack on iPhone. It cannot detect cables that quietly try to steal data without typing, or that damage your phone's power circuitry. The Learn tab is honest about every limit.
PRIVACY
Nothing CableSentry captures ever leaves your iPhone. The app has no internet connection at all — no analytics, no third-party services, no tracking. Every session it catches is stored only in your phone's private storage. We keep nothing.
