Fixes for a second receiver breaking the one you were using, and for remote buttons that stopped working until you reopened Dirigo. • If you had two receivers saved and one of them was switched off or off the network, the receiver you were actually using could show "Standby" and its Home screen could stop responding — until you deleted the other one. The unreachable receiver no longer affects the one you are using, and Dirigo no longer shows a receiver as connected when it isn't. The connection dot in the sidebar and the badge in Manage Receivers now always agree about the same receiver. • If you had two receivers, the one you weren't using could take over the widget, the watch and your Apple TV connection. Each receiver now only affects itself. • If your Apple TV went to sleep, dropped off Wi-Fi, or your phone switched networks while Dirigo was open, the remote's buttons could stop working — every press showed "Couldn't send the remote command" until you closed and reopened the app. Dirigo now quietly rebuilds the connection and sends the button again, so the press just works. • When something goes wrong, the report you can send is far more useful. Tap Report on the error, or use Send Diagnostic Report in Settings, and Dirigo writes out what failed, what it was trying to do, whether it managed to reconnect and try again, and the handful of things you did just before — so a problem can often be sorted out from the first report instead of a long back-and-forth. Your devices are listed as "Apple TV #1" rather than by name unless you switch Include Device Names on, and no network addresses, passwords or account details are included. Dirigo keeps this short log on your phone only: nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to share it, and the report opens for you to read before it goes.

A fix for a crash that could close Dirigo moments after it opened. • Now and then, Dirigo would quit within a second of starting up — most noticeably when a Shortcut or a Siri command opened it, which made the command fail the first time and then work when you tried again. It came from a check Dirigo makes to find out what your receiver supports, which could stumble over an unlucky internal number and stop the app outright. That check has been rewritten so it can't happen again.

A fix for Android TV remotes that stopped connecting. • If your router gave your Android TV a new address — which happens on its own every so often — Dirigo carried on trying to reach it at the old one, and the remote would simply time out. Re-pairing fixed it only until the next time the address changed. Dirigo now looks the television up on your network each time it connects, so it finds it wherever it has moved to, and remembers the new address.

A fix for the Apple TV card on the Home screen. • When your Apple TV switched from one app to another, the Home screen could be left showing an empty card — no title and no artwork — while reporting that something was playing. Dirigo now waits for the new app to say what it is playing instead of showing a blank card.

A guided tour, and help wherever you need it. • New in this version: a short tour of what Dirigo can do, shown once when you open it. Where the settings live, how to add an Apple TV or Android TV remote, how to rename and re-colour your inputs, and where the documentation is. You can open it again any time from App Settings. • Every panel that slides up from the Home screen now has a ? that opens documentation written for that panel — sound mode, speakers, signal info, inputs, quick selects and the rest.

Two fixes to how things read on screen. • The in-app help now flows in a single column. Siri phrases were being cut off mid-word in a narrow two-column layout, and at larger text sizes the text could run outside its card. • More breathing room around the playback controls on the Home screen — they were sitting hard against the card edge and the volume slider.

Voice control, rebuilt. • Ask Siri to turn on your receiver — or your Apple TV or Android TV — by name. • Shorter phrases for volume, input, Quick Select, sound mode and mute. Siri no longer asks which receiver. • Shortcuts now finish with your phone locked. Multi-device routines that quietly failed part-way through now run start to finish. Your TV, from the Home screen. • Swipe the artwork to move around your Apple TV or Android TV. Hold to keep going, tap to select, two fingers to go back. • Playback controls stay put when nothing is playing, so you can start something without leaving the screen. Also in this release. • The Apple TV's now-playing card no longer disappears after switching apps. • Button labels stay readable on light accent colours. • Setup finds your receiver on its own — no button to press.

Music • Play All now queues the whole album or playlist, not just the first track. • Drag the progress bar to move through a track — the time you're heading to appears above your thumb. • A mini player stays with you while you browse, so the controls are always within reach. • "Go to Artist" and "Go to Album" open the right thing, and albums open instantly. • Tapping a music service checks it first, so one you're signed out of tells you straight away instead of three screens later. • Internet radio is reachable again. Home • What's playing is grouped into a single card that no longer shifts as tracks change, and the artwork is much larger. • Full playback controls and a draggable position bar, without leaving Home. • Quick jumps between Home, Music, and your device's remote. Also • Siri can set the volume, and understands the input names you chose. • The Remote screen's playback buttons now control HEOS music. • Background removal for input images has an adjustable edge, so you can keep fine detail or cut a cleaner outline.

Fixes a problem introduced in 2.2. • Signal Info and zone status could stop working permanently. Once the receiver had nothing to report for one of them — which happens normally, for instance while listening to music, or when looking at a zone your receiver does not have — Dirigo wrongly concluded the receiver did not support it and never asked again. Updating repairs it. If Signal Info or a zone stopped showing anything on 2.2, this release clears that and it starts working again.

New • Android TV and Google TV devices that can be woken over the network now get a power button on their remote. It appears only where it will actually work — some streaming boxes drop off the network entirely when switched off, and nothing can wake those, so Dirigo hides the button rather than offering one that could switch a device off for good until you reach for its own remote. Fixes • Apple TV: artwork now appears reliably, and quickly. It could previously take minutes or never arrive at all, and once it was missing it often stayed missing until the app was restarted. • Apple TV: apps are named properly again. Some apps report themselves by their internal identifier, and that identifier was being shown as the app name — "com.plexapp.plex" instead of "Plex". • Apple TV: what is playing now clears when you leave a video and go back to the app, instead of lingering on the Home screen after you have stopped watching. • Apple Watch: the volume now tracks correctly while you turn the Digital Crown. A continuous turn could previously stutter or snap backwards under your finger, and the number on the watch could disagree with the receiver afterwards. • Sound modes that some receivers quietly ignored now work. Denon and Marantz have shipped two different names for Multi Ch Stereo over the years, and older receivers only answer to one of them — so on those models the mode could appear to be selected while nothing actually changed. Dirigo now checks whether the mode really took effect, tries the other name if it did not, and remembers whichever one your receiver accepts. • Choosing two sound modes in quick succession no longer confuses Dirigo about which one applied. • A sound mode or feature your receiver genuinely does not support is now reported right away, instead of pausing for several seconds on every attempt. • Android TV: a device that cannot be reached now says so in about five seconds rather than fifteen, with a short message instead of a long technical one. • Removed a developer diagnostic panel that could appear if you tapped the Home screen three times.

Fixes • In the image editor for a custom input icon, you can move and resize the picture again after removing its background. It used to freeze the moment the background came off, with no way to reframe the shot except starting over.

Android TV • Pair an Android TV, Google TV or NVIDIA Shield the same way you pair an Apple TV — Dirigo finds it on your network and walks you through the code that appears on the television. • A full remote: D-pad, Back, Home, and play, pause and skip. Volume still goes to your receiver, where it belongs. • See what's playing on the television right on the Dirigo home screen, with artwork, the programme name and how far through it is. • The remote tells you which app is on screen, recognising the common ones by name. Scrub from your phone • Drag the progress bar on the home screen to jump straight to a moment. Works with both Apple TV and Android TV. Pairing that behaves • The list of televisions now shows only televisions. HomePods, Macs and other Apple devices no longer clutter it. • A device you forget reappears in the list straight away, instead of leaving you to restart the app. • Pairing no longer looks stuck partway through, and can no longer leave you with two copies of the same television. Fixes • Tapping a link inside a Help or Reference page no longer closes the app. • Some screens had two Help buttons that opened the same page. Now there is one — and Input Assignment has a Help page of its own, which can open the screen it describes. • Help and Reference now cover Android TV, not just Apple TV. • A track with no title no longer shows as "Unknown". • Demo Mode keeps its sample devices when you reopen the app, and now shows a sample programme playing on a sample Apple TV and Android TV.

Help, where you need it • Every section now has a Help button that opens the page explaining that screen. • Help pages link back to the screen they describe, so you can read and go straight there. • A new Help page for the Receiver Remote, covering the D-pad, the corner buttons, Quick Selects and volume. Fixes • Now-playing titles and artist names are properly centered. • If your streaming library comes back empty while you're signed in, the app now says the receiver may be having a moment, instead of stating your library is empty.

Faster music browsing • Your library now appears instantly when you come back to it, instead of downloading all over again. • Large libraries with thousands of tracks no longer reload from scratch on every visit. Fixes • Your custom input names, quick-select presets, and paired Apple TV are no longer lost if your receiver's network address changes.

Fixes for the volume buttons and the Apple Watch app. • Volume buttons control the receiver reliably again. Previously they could do nothing if your iPhone's own volume was already at the top or bottom of its range. • Your iPhone's volume is restored when you leave Dirigo, instead of being left at 50%. • The Apple Watch app can now turn the receiver on as well as off. • The watch responds faster — commands no longer wait up to a minute before falling back. • Album track lists now match the album you opened. • Clearer messages when a music folder is empty, with a Check Again button.

Dirigo now works on your Apple Watch. Control your receiver straight from your wrist — volume on the Digital Crown, mute, inputs, Quick Select scenes and power. The watch talks to your receiver directly over Wi-Fi, so it keeps working with your iPhone locked in your pocket. A watch face complication opens Dirigo in a single tap. Dirigo is now free to download with a three-day trial, and a one-time purchase unlocks it for good — no subscription. If you already bought Dirigo, you keep everything permanently and will never be asked to pay again. Also fixed: the watch now shows your own name for each input rather than the receiver's generic label, and a crash on launch has been resolved.
