Hello sh00rka, Heges is an app that is paid up front, like e.g. Minecraft or Halide. Who would buy Minecraft if they cannot try it beforehand? And how can anyone write a review for an app when they have not even used it?

I hope that after you will have the chance to actually use Heges, then you will change your review to reflect how does Heges work, because I do not think that what you wrote now is really a review. EDIT 2: Firstly, thank you for reading my answers :)! When a company / developer offers app for free on the App Store, then in vast majority of cases, the app spies on you, tracks you and the developers sell your behavioral data to advertisers who profile you in order to serve you ads that match your interests.

I hate spyware, so I made Heges completely private — there are no trackers, ads, analytics, crashlytics nor anything similar in Heges (see https://hege.sh/privacy). Everything you do within Heges stays on youe device. Heges does only connect to the Interner when it loads the prices of the app and when you buy/restore the app.

Making apps is a laborious, time-consuming process and you never truly stop working on an app, because you have to make sure it doesn't break when Apple releases new version of iOS. Then you also update the app to introduce new features and fix bugs. This all takes time, so to be able to work this app, I made it paid, so that I can pay my electricity bills, food, etc.

So you can ask yourself: why would a company make their app completely free if it wouldn't bring them any money? Every company needs to pay its emploees' wages, so they have to earn money one way or another. I am not saying that every free app necessarily spies on you, there are exceptions for sure.

As for why the app is so expensive: people from different countries have different average income and perceive prices in a different way, so what is overly expensive for a person from Russia, Ukraine or Latin America, might be perceived as relatively cheap for someone from e.g. Germany, Switzerland or USA. In general, iPhones are expensive, so if somebody has enough money to buy an iPhone, it seems like they have money to spend and I assume they can afford to buy an app, which costs an extremely small fraction of what their iPhone costs.

Anyway, I do not want to persuade you to buy my app, because it might not be a good fit for you (depending on what you want to use the scans for — Heges is currently primarily focused on obtaining higher *geometric* detail when scanning smaller objects with the selfie camera).

So, I genuinely want to give you Heges for free — I do not ask anything in return, there are no strings attached. You can think of it as of a late Christmas present :). All you have to do to get the app for free is to send me an email at support@hege.sh and I will send you an App Store Promo Code for the app. I don't want to type the Promo Code in this answer, because everyone can read this message and they could potentially use the code before you do.

The reason why Heges is free-to-download (do not confuse it with being FREE) is because it needs to check if your iPhone/iPad is capable of 3D scanning (i.e. if it has the selfie FaceID camera), which can only be done once you open the app. If I made the app paid "on the App Store", then even people with unsupported devices coud buy it — and that would be a scam. Heges is therefore free-to-download in order NOT to scam people with unsupported devices.

But you would already know this if you would have read the App Description as I mentioned in my original answer, please do read it. Moreover, Heges has a Screen Sharing feature which can be used for free, e.g. on your friend's iPhone/iPad. Hopefully, this will answer your question. My offer to give you the app for free is still valid, all you have to do is to send me an email at support@hege.sh

I would love to make the app paid directly on the App Store (then I wouldn't get meaningless 1* reviews from people who have not even used the app), but I prefer not to scam people with unsupported devices.

Hello Vovka, Heges is a paid app and I explicitly mention it several times in the App Description. If you order something online in an e-shop, you also pay for it beforehand. I don't think it's fair to give 1* review just because an app costs money. In my opinion, a review should reflect how the app works, and not revolve just around its pricing.

I therefore offer you to try the app completely for free — just send me an email at support@hege.sh and then you will actually have the chance to use the app (and maybe update your review after you will have used the app).
