Narrow Front is an offline WWII tactics game, played in portrait with one thumb. One road, two headquarters, and every field, farmhouse and bridge in between has to be taken.
Deploy rifle sections, machine-gun teams and tanks with a tap. Push them up a living battlefield, then call in mortars, artillery and air strikes to break the enemy line. Battles are fast, easy to read and played with one thumb.
Ten missions, Normandy to the Rhine
Follow Baker Section from the hedgerows of June 1944 to the bridge at Remagen in March 1945. Every mission has its own map, objectives and story, told in illustrated motion-comic cutscenes with voiced radio calls. Replay on Veteran for three stars.
24 tanks from three armies
Stuarts, Shermans, the Jumbo and the Pershing. Cromwells, Churchills, the Firefly and the Comet. On the other side of the road: Panzer II, III and IV, the Panther, the Tiger and the King Tiger. Every tank has its own model and its own job.
Tap. Deploy. Break through.
Choose your cards, watch your supply and time your push. Riflemen take ground, machine guns hold it, anti-tank teams stop armour, and engineers and medics keep the line moving.
Call in support
Recon flyovers, mortar barrages, artillery, air strikes and field repair. Aim them from your own ground and watch the shells walk across the road.
Capture, hold, advance
Only infantry can capture houses. Bunkers and cover change every fight. Order your troops to hold the line or advance, then drive on the enemy headquarters.
Eleven battlefields
Normandy farms and flooded fields, the streets of Aachen, the Ardennes snow and the Remagen bridge. Skirmish against the computer on every battlefield the campaign opens, in three, five or eight minute battles. Recruit and Regular are open on each one; win at a rank to open the next one there, up to Ace.
Play a friend
Two players, two iPhones or iPads, one battlefield. Join the same Wi-Fi, open a room, and play one round or a best of three or five. Both commanders fight from the bottom of the screen. No internet needed.
Film the fight
Tap the battle cam to film ten seconds of the fight from cinematic angles. Your clips wait in NEWSREELS, ready to watch, share or save to Photos.
Build your army
Open supply crates, collect unit cards, level them up and build your loadout. Premium crates are optional in-app purchases, and their odds are shown before you buy. Earn achievements in Game Center.
Climb the leaderboard
Sign in with Game Center to back up your progress and join the global leaderboard under your commander name. You can leave it at any time in Account & Progress.
Play offline
Campaign and skirmish battles play offline against the computer, and PLAY A FRIEND needs only a shared Wi-Fi network. An account is optional, and nothing interrupts a battle.
Narrow Front is made by Matterward Labs. The campaign is set at real places and dates; its characters are fictional.

What's new
- PLAY A FRIEND: two players on two iPhones or iPads on the same Wi-Fi. No internet needed. Play one round or a best of three or five.
- Battle cam: tap the camera in battle to film ten seconds of the fight. Your clips wait in NEWSREELS to watch, share or save.
- Premium crates: five crates to buy in the store, with the odds shown before you buy.
- Global leaderboard: sign in with Game Center to join under your commander name.
- Skirmish ranks: Recruit and Regular are open on every battlefield. Win at a rank to open the next one there, up to Ace.
- A new skirmish setup: pick the battlefield, the opponent and the length.
- A cleaner battle HUD, a new main menu and a new Account & Progress screen.
- New commanders get a guided first battle with Cpl. Ellis.
- Campaign first clears on Regular and Veteran pay more XP.
- More detailed battles: turrets traverse before they fire, tanks crush fences and leave tracks, and knocked-out tanks burn.
- Crisper shadows, smoother ground and a finished Orchard Crossroads.
- Campaign balance changes and crash fixes.
