Why?! is the safe digital knowledge companion for children aged 4 to 16. With a lovingly animated animal character as their guide, your children can ask all their questions – anything that comes to mind. The app grows with your child and automatically adapts answers to their respective age.
The App That Grows With Your Child
From preschool to adolescence, Why?! accompanies your children on their journey of discovery. Younger ones can simply ask their questions by voice – even if they can't read yet. As soon as your child starts learning to read, text is additionally displayed. For older children from about 10 years old, the app offers a complete chat interface as a safe alternative to uncontrolled AI tools. This way, your children get exactly the support they need at their respective developmental stage.
Playful Learning With the Bottles & Glasses System
Children learn not only knowledge, but also conscious resource management. Each week they receive a "knowledge bottle" that they can distribute over seven days. This makes the abstract use of AI tangible and playfully teaches that resources are valuable. A lovingly animated fox accompanies every interaction and makes learning a joyful experience.
Does the learning companion become a friend?
No. Why?! transparently teaches children that it's an AI – a learning tool without feelings. This honesty promotes a healthy relationship with technology. Real friendships are formed with people.
Perfectly Designed for Families
You can create up to five child profiles and make individual settings for each child. The app shows you which topics particularly interest your children – without seeing the conversations themselves. You get valuable insights and conversation starters while your children's privacy remains protected. This relieves you from the many "Why?" questions of daily life while giving you the assurance that your children are safely interacting with AI.
Security You Can Rely On
Full control remains with you: You decide which of the 15 topic areas may be discussed. The adult area is PIN-protected, so only you can change the settings. This way you can be sure that your children are learning in a protected environment.
Privacy is not an option for Why?!, but a standard. We minimize data storage to the essentials, use European servers, and comply with COPPA and GDPR guidelines for children’s applications.
