Most habit apps leave you marking your own checkbox. Backd puts a real person in your corner. You set a goal, choose who backs it, and submit proof — a photo, a written note, an Apple Health reading, or a location check — that a buddy you trust reviews before it counts. No strangers. No public feed. No public rankings.
HOW IT WORKS
• Set a goal with a schedule and the kind of proof that fits it.
• Choose who backs you — invite a buddy into a private accountability circle.
• Submit proof when you follow through.
• Your buddy reviews it — they approve it, or send it back with a note.
• Miss a day? Recover without shame — recommit, use a grace day, or mark "life happened." One slip doesn't undo your progress.
• Want more on the line? Attach a symbolic stake to any goal: a number you track for yourself that Backd never charges.
FRIENDS' FEED
Turn on "Show in friends' feed" for a goal and your friends on Backd see it and its approved proof, and can cheer you on. It's off unless you choose it, set per goal, and friends-only.
WORKS WITH APPLE HEALTH AND SCREEN TIME
• Apple Health (optional): let Backd read your steps and workouts to check a fitness goal for you. Backd only reads Health data, never writes it, and saves just the result with your check-in.
• Screen Time (optional): Lock apps uses Apple's Screen Time to shield the apps you choose on your own iPhone — right now, on a daily window, or until a goal's proof is approved. You can lift the shield in Backd at any time.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
There are no public profiles, no global feed, no public leaderboards, and no discoverable groups. Your goals, proof, and notes are visible only to you, the people you have chosen to be accountable to, and — for goals you share — your friends. Proof photos stay in private storage and are deleted once reviewed (ones in the feed after 14 days) — you choose the outside limit, including never storing photos at all.
GROUP GOALS
Invite a small, trusted group to lock in together on a shared goal, with a private activity view and a members-only consistency board. No public rankings, no shame.

Proof is camera-first and reviewed by a person you chose. We do not claim it is unfakeable. We claim it is backed by someone in your corner, which is the part that actually keeps you going.
SUBSCRIPTION
Backd Premium adds unlimited goals, AI proof checks, deeper insights and unlimited goal stacks. Symbolic stakes, Screen Time features, Apple Health and location proof are free.
Backd Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription: $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year in the US (prices in other countries are shown in the app before you buy). Both plans start with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers; the plan you chose is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Backd works without a subscription.
