Ratings and Reviews
OK but when the chips are down the computer opponent will win
It's a good game but beware of a few things:
1. Be wary of accepting a double from the computer - this is usually a cue for his(her) dice to crank into overdrive and your chances of winning are then about 1 in 5.
2. In an 'equal' bearing off you'll usually lose as he will get doubles 'up the wazoo'.
3. The computer will usually be able to fill his home box with ease - and don't take this phoney claptrap that it is the 'sophisticated' program that allows the computer to be able to do this.
Also when bearing off the computer is usually totally flawless whereas you will have dice that will leave you with single counters open and invariably taken by the computer.
4. And finally expect to roll the dice forever when you have counters on the bar - you may get a chance of getting in after about ten rolls by which time the computer has miraculously moved 5 or 6 counters around the board and secured victory from the jaws of a heavy defeat....
5. Can a computer cheat - of course not, but it appears to me at least that the program the developers use (and tout as being super in other places) needs artificial help to compete at the top level.......
