Bug fixes and performance improvements!

We’re so excited to roll out one of our biggest updates yet! In this version, we’ve completely overhauled the sign-up flow: now, anyone can join HotSpot with just a phone number and email. No more Stanford-only access! If you're affiliated with an organization like Stanford, you can still verify that during onboarding (or later in your profile) to unlock exclusive campus events. We’ve also added the ability to export events directly to your Google Calendar or Outlook, making it super easy to stay organized. One of our favorite upgrades: you can now invite friends to events via SMS without throwing everyone into the same group text. Each person gets their own personalized invite: clean, simple, and private. Behind the scenes, we’ve started tracking how users interact with the app (completely anonymously) so we can better understand what’s working and where to improve. Oh, and here’s the big one: we’re going national. This update brings curated public events from over 20 major U.S. cities straight into the app. So even if you're not on campus, HotSpot helps you discover what’s happening around you. Add in some polish, bug fixes, and UI improvements, and you’ve got a smoother, smarter, more exciting HotSpot experience.

We just took HotSpot to a whole new level. Introducing Smart Event Creation: now you can create both public and private events with smart invitations, choosing exactly who you want to invite by name, phone number, or even entire groups you’re part of. Private events are hidden from the public map and only visible to your invitees, giving you total control over who joins the fun. But that’s just the beginning. We've also launched the Groups and Communities system! Create or join clubs, squads, or friend groups inside the app. Organize private events for your groups, stay connected with group chats, and receive notifications for group activities — all inside the new Groups Tab. Our RSVP system is now smarter and more interactive. Seamlessly confirm your attendance, unlock hidden venues, and instantly see who’s coming. Plus, we’ve gamified HotSpot with a new Points System and Leaderboards — earn points for RSVPing, posting stories, inviting friends, and more. Climb daily, weekly, and all-time leaderboards and show off your status! Profiles are now richer than ever. Tap on fellow attendees to view bios, favorites, socials, and even follow them. And yes, you’ll get notified when someone follows you or posts an event! We’ve also introduced host messaging so event hosts can directly blast updates to attendees, and now you can invite people from multiple groups at once for truly dynamic event planning. Sharing moments just got better too — you can now post images to event feeds before, during, and after events, and keep those memories alive with stories that no longer expire unless you delete them. Plus, HotSpot will now recommend trending events happening within the next 24 hours, show event view counts to help you jump into the hottest gatherings, improve notifications for faster access to events, fix RSVP color indicators, and add icons to event map pins for clearer navigation. And lastly, our AI event descriptions are now tuned to be clearer, sharper, and more factual — still with a little flair, but always easy to understand. This is the most exciting HotSpot update yet... and it's just the beginning.

We just took HotSpot to the next level. We introduced an all-new RSVP system: now you can seamlessly confirm your attendance, unlock hidden event venues, and see exactly who's coming. But we didn’t just stop there...We’ve gamified the app with a points system and leaderboard! Earn points for RSVPing, posting stories, inviting friends, and more. Climb your way to the top across daily, weekly, and all-time leaderboards and show off your status on the brand-new Points Tab. You can also share images to event feeds before they even begin, and personalize your profile. You can now tap on fellow attendees' profile pictures to view their bios, favorites, social links, and even follow them! (Yep, you’ll get notified when someone follows you—or when someone you follow posts an event!)  In addition, our new notification system recommends trending events happening in the next 24 hours, so you never miss out. Each event now shows how many people have viewed it, so you can jump in on the most buzzed-about gatherings. This is the most exciting HotSpot update yet..and it’s just the beginning!

Updated app icon to a fresh new look, and fixed some errors with phone verification during the onboarding process.

Updated the UI to accommodate SwiftUI and latest Apple design principles. Also added features including ability to favorite events and add details to the user profile, and fixed numerous bugs and issues along the way. Happy spotting!
