Daystead is a calm, large-display day card for people living with memory loss and the caregivers who help them.
Leave Daystead running on an iPad or iPhone on the kitchen counter, the bedside table, or the living room shelf. It shows today's day-of-week in huge friendly type, the full date, the time of day in plain English, and the routine that was planned for today — meals, medications, visits, favorite TV programs, and gentle reminders. When a patient looks up and asks "what day is it?", the answer is right there, in the largest type the screen will fit.
WHAT DAYSTEAD SHOWS
- The current weekday in giant rounded text (TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, ...)
- The full date spelled out ("March 5, 2026")
- The time of day in friendly words ("Good morning", "Good afternoon", "Good evening", "It's nighttime")
- An optional Today's Note set by the caregiver ("Sarah visits today!") that clears on its own at midnight
- A scrollable plan card with up to six routine entries for today, each with an optional time anchor
- The next routine item highlighted in a soft Next banner so the patient knows what is coming
- An optional family photo set by the caregiver, displayed as a soft circular vignette
CAREGIVER SETUP
- Three preset display sizes: Standard, Large, X-Large — pick the one that reads cleanly from across the room
- Three themes: Warm (cream and brown), High Contrast (black and white), Soft (blue and ivory)
- A seven-day routine editor (up to six entries per day) with an optional time picker
- A Test Display preview so you can confirm the look before you hand the device back
- A one-tap Erase All control if you ever want to start over
WHAT DAYSTEAD IS NOT
- No subscription. Daystead is a one-time paid utility.
- No account, no sign-up, no cloud sync.
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking.
- No microphone, no contacts, no calendar, no health data, no networking.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Daystead stores the routine, today's note, display preferences, and the optional family photo on this device only. Nothing leaves the device. The privacy manifest declares only the local UserDefaults and File Timestamp APIs that are required for on-device storage. The optional photo permission is requested only when the caregiver taps Choose Photo.
WHO DAYSTEAD IS FOR
Daystead is designed for families and care teams supporting an older relative with mild cognitive impairment or dementia. It can also be helpful for anyone who simply wants a kind, low-distraction at-a-glance day card on a kitchen tablet — a partner working night shifts, a child with neurodivergent rhythms, or someone recovering from a head injury.
Daystead is the antithesis of subscription "memory care" apps that lock the day card behind a monthly fee. Buy it once. Set it up. Trust it.
