Description

Fight the social media algorithms and win back control over your social media usage & your subconsciousness!

“one sec” forces you to take a deep breath whenever you open one of the configured websites or apps (Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram,…). This breaks unconcious social media habits short-term (literally, as soon as you have set it up) and even helps long-term by adding more friction when opening these websites and apps.

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present: Did you really want to open Instagram?
This app helps you to reflect your actions, thoughts, and feelings; disrupting harmful social media habits with mindfulness.

Available Subscription Options:

One sec is simply perfect

They don’t sell your data, they can’t even access it.

The devs behind this are quite good at implementing features that improved the already well rounded app. They also have put in dyslexic mode to help, so thumbs up for including that.

It’s perfect!

Pricing completely unreasonable

Putting a subscription pricing on something like this is unreasonable. I’m an app developer myself and I’m all for devs getting paid, but for such a small utility, subscription is unethical, and the one time cost is crazy, especially considering that the core functionality is performed by Shortcuts, not One Sec. I’d gladly pay $5 or maybe $10 but $30‽

The constant nagging for money when it’s supposed to be a mindfulness app is also incredibly off putting.

You can do this yourself

You can create your own version of this by using the Shortcuts app all the way. You don’t get the data on how many hours you save but you can create the function of being prompted with a yes/no question when trying to open the app (+ opening the app or going back to homescreen depending on your answer).

Sure, you dont get data and a cute prompt, but you save the money you would have to pay for using this app for more than one flow.
