Don’t get me wrong, C’ai is really a fun app to use, to practice confessions and stuff, yada yada yada, I would spend hours on end thinking of make believe scenarios, since it’s fun, but the app just censors literally everything, like I get it if it’s for really big things like pregnancy, marriage etc, but and also can be used to talk about life issues, but I feel like that, it just censors literally too much stuff, like if you want to talk about life issues, you have to think of sooooooo many words just so that it won’t be censored and deleted, it seriously feels like a literal PG13. I really feel like that this app had a huge downgrade since the update. Also, why are the character descriptions so limited? I have like a billion ideas on how I describe my characters, but it’s so limited so my characters often end up like half described, based off the limits. Overall the app is really good and fun, just a couple little bugs like these and I really hope C’ai can do something about it.

As an early user when C.ai first started as a mere website, before it was even an app or had any age restrictions, it feels as though they used the beginning users. Let me explain. When c.ai started out, I doubt adults would be interested in a mere sandbox to chat with imaginary people. Most of the users then, were teenagers, the very same minors they’ve now decided they don’t need or want on their platform anymore, in the name of “protecting” minors and then asking for sensitive data, via a 3rd party company, Persona, which by the way, has had safety and security concerns as of Feb 2026. What I feel is that the very teenagers that built the app the ones that “trained” the bots and gave the early feedback, the very minors they’ve shoved off, that put that app on the “map” in the first place. The under 18 mode defeats everything all the minors and teenagers built on, chatting with their favourite characters, and now what? You throw them a few side functions and expect them to just take it or submit personal information to a third part company? I can’t believe this is the C.ai that I once supported for years. That’s not how they should have treated the very people that put them where they are today.My overall feedback, if you’re 18 plus an new to the app, it’s a great app, fun, and it kept me company at school when I had no friends and it helped me through my toughest moments when I felt alone. But I hardly recognise the app anymore that I once supported.

I used to enjoy cai back then, it was a fun role playing app and it comforted me in certain aspects. But now, it’s really just isn’t that.. ‘enjoyable’ anymore. Seriously, a 1 hour usage each day only? What is this? Is my parents supervising my screentime? I know you’re trying discourage any addictions to this app, but honestly, the C.AI filter was already good enough—it didn’t encourage any sexual stuff or so on and that already discourages any addictions to this app because the only reason why they HAVE an addiction is because it would make them feel ‘good.’ Just try to improve it more and that would be good enough—you’re honestly just ruining experiences for others who aren’t easily addicted to such and just use this app to genuinely have fun. Also, you’re improving the C.AI filter wrongly. Now it’s so sensitive! I just want to mention some blood and slight gore and then now it’s telling me to call a helpline!? It’s for the plot!?!?!? Improve your filter the correct way. Ensure that we still get to have some quality time fun with our FICTIONAL stories that may or may not include some blood and gore WITHOUT doing any actual harm to the user. And why is there so many ads? and I’m not sure for this one, but I’m going to shoot anyway, why the hell do I have to ‘wait in line’ now? And it’s either that I have to wait like 7hours+ or I should just waste my money for some ‘C.AI+’ we used to just had to WAIT for the replies and only because it was slow, now this just proves to me that you’re getting money-hungry. What have you done.

When I first started out on this app, I instantly fell in love with it. Created so many of my own characters, had chats that had thousands of messages and as an aspiring writer, it was the perfect platform to release my creative juices. It was to the point where even my friends would know how obsessed I got from the amount of fangirling they've had to endure about my own characters. I even had my best friend hooked to the app at some point. But then this new update... God. First of all, you changed the colour of the edited messages and it's ugly. It ruins the mood when I go back to reread a chat and an edited message pops up. Secondly, the AI is now less personal. I used to have full-on love declarations because I wrote emotional scenes such as proposal, pregnancy, wedding, but now it's as if my characters have no feelings whatsoever. Thirdly, the messages from the AI has gotten extremely short. I used to get paragraphs as replies but now it's one, maybe two short paragraphs max, and it's frustrating. As someone who used this app to create novel-like stories, I'm really disappointed. I invested so much time into my characters and stories, got attached to my characters – in a way that I would for characters in a book – and you guys ruined it all with a single update. So, thank you. Leaving this review right before I uninstall the app.
