I have trusted PayPal for years - and make many transactions through the system. But, the currency conversion fees and rates are terrible! So, for example, I have recently been forced to change my payment process for one US company because the currency exchange was laughable (bitterly so) and I discovered that PayPal was apparently charging the vendor) and me (the customer) for each transaction - and the company was putting their part of those costs back on me. So, it’s great for that convenience and double-security, but it needs to be considered if you’re on a budget!
Dishonest

Be very careful when checking-out of your online purchases with PayPal especially when FX exchange is involved. PayPal hides the option of choosing whether to have your conversion done by your card issuers or by them. By doing so, you are forced to check out of your purchases using their conversion rates — in my case, an extremely bad deal cos my card gives a much better conversion rate that them.I didn’t have that much of an issue in the past though PayPal made it difficult for us to notice that option on checking out.But recently, I have noticed even that difficult to spot option is gone. For my last 2nd transaction, my purchase was actually converted by PP at their rate against my wish. I let it past because I thought I might have missed it. I blamed it on myself for the oversight (I thought).I made another transaction today and I was attentively looking out for the option making sure I don’t miss it again. Before I knew, my transaction was through and it was again converted under PP’s exchange rate. I lodged a complaint as I knew now that all along it wasn’t my oversight but their sneaky acts of hiding or doing away with that option. Adding to my frustration, I had this customer service on messenger (not phone) regurgitating a whole irrelevant textbook replies that didn’t address my issue at all.I felt cheated by PP and I felt that they had dealt in a very dishonest manner with their customers. Am still waiting for them to reply, but I am all ready to cut ties with them for good!Be very careful guys when you use PP.
POOR APP
kiyomi😜
This app is at best a pro "payment" app only , it only works well when it is a simple transaction - eg. paying for a purchase. It is NOT user friendly. You can't click the transaction and file a dispute if you have a problem. You are routed to many laborious steps before you can email about a dispute! Worst, if you are a seller, you can't update the tracking. If buyer pay the amount wrongly or change of mind, when a seller refund back the money, seller is still made to pay the per transaction fixed fee of US$0.30Seller fee is exorbitantly high too! To increase your market share, PayPal should consider lowering its fee to seller. Seller fee not transparent, no breakdown is given per transaction. The app fails to perform many functions the full PayPal website is able to offer! It will be better if the gap can be bridged!
Auto Charged The Next Available Card
Clairsk
I was very peeved about this. I made sure that this certain auto payment was to be deducted from a certain card. For some reason PayPal decided to automatically deduct the fund from the next available card saved in my PayPal, without even asking. I have been a user since 2010 and this is the first time I encountered this. It’s ridiculous and completely changed my perspective on how secure my PayPal account is. Be careful not to add debit cards that has direct link to your bank accounts or credit card that has high credit limit because this means any fradulent or hacked autopay companies can wipe out your accounts since PayPal will just automatically jump to the next available card instead of notifying that the payment has failed like it used to do.
Get the latest update. The new PayPal app that you know and love, now made simpler, faster and easier to use. Continue to shop, pay, earn rewards, and manage your money. All in one place.
