Was using this VPN service during my stay in China. And there was alot of talk about China’s Great Firewall being strong and unable to be surpassed by VPNs. However, ExpressVPN worked fine for me in China. They even provided regular updates and support for me when I wasn’t able to connect. Though the connections dropped sometimes (with any VPN it would really), but I got to use apps like Instagram, Whatsapp etc. without much of a hassle.When I encountered a problem with my laptop, I contacted the online support where a member of ExpressVPN assisted me and told me how to fix things step-by-step. I eventually was able to get it to work - to my amazement and ever since have been extremely satisfied with the service.Speed-wise in China, it can be slow but I wouldn’t complain because I can still stream content, just takes a long time if you stream in HD quality like 1080p. The speed of the VPN also varies, sometimes it turns out to be quite fast. Would highly recommend people to use this VPN. It works really quickly outside of China and can surpass Netflix’s detectors.

Expressvpn has pretty impressive speeds for their servers. You can also switch protocols in their applications which is awesome (so you no need to download thousands of .ovpn files) Their Zero-Log Dns severs are also a gd feature in case your device does not have vpn support like the Nintendo switch which would at least provide some security although having a vpn is more secure. Support in China is great as well along with fast Netflix streaming speeds. Applications and functions are super user friendly so don't worry about it. Support are friendly and helpful so do contact them if you need any help. Tried other VPN before but nothing compared to this. Overall just awesome.

Caution! I checked my credit card billing and realized the subscription was being auto renewed after the free trial period ended. There was no email to remind me of the chargeable subscription and if I still want to continue using the service. I also checked on my Apple subscription, there is no record. Again I checked on the app, the account settings have been grayed out without me having the ability to amend or cancel my billing. When I went to the live chat, the agent repeatedly asked why I wanted to cancel despite me telling him/her of my intention multiple times. I was informed that the cancel function has not made available on the app yet! Should I not have checked on my credit card billing diligently, I would have been charged at the background quietly. The funny thing is that, I don’t even see this under Apple subscription. I feel like being scammed!

I’ve been a user for about 2 years. It worked most of the time for the first 3 months. Now, the success of a VPN connection is now only 30-40% of the time I use it, be it through this app or the router. Netflix detects the VPN and disallows you from either accessing the app at all, or playing a movie. The customer service, while immediate and trying their best to be helpful, is limited to advising you to 1) Log in and out and try again 2) Try another country 3) Repeat. For all occasions that I’ve contacted them, the problem remained and I am left to accept that the network is down. I understand the difficulty of maintaining a large VPN network and I can accept occasional failures, but at this point, I am left with no working VPN locations much more often than I do get to actually use them, which makes the subscription price hard to justify.
