Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.
Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.
Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.
Proton Mail in the press:
“Proton Mail is a Gmail-like email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes
“A new email service being developed by a group who met at MIT and CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

Like that it has features built in that the stock mail app doesn’t have.

More to be desired.

Considering I just paid for an annual subscription, I find this app lacking in modern features such as rich text formatting. Hello, it’s year 2025 and mobile devices are more than capable. Also when composing an email, I can’t simply select text, it just doesn’t work. Please pay some attention to basic features and not only on privacy. Still, appreciate that this app is coded in Swift.

Increase the number of paid/free email accounts for quick switching
Ecclesiastes7
Presently, it seems users can only simultaneously login to 3 email accounts for quick switching. If i want to login in to the 4th account, i would be forced to logout from one of the 3 email accounts. Would be great if this limit to quick switching can be increased. Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback - we'll share it with the team. We can only sustain our business through our community's choice to support us by subscribing to a paid plan, so with that in mind, some features are necessarily available only on our premium plans. This ensures that we are able to keep providing free privacy-first services to those who can't afford a subscription.
Very good email service

Proton is a useful tool to reclaim our privacy. My only request would be for a way to change the size of the font in the email ( many are very small so having it displayed bigger would be a nice addition).Keep up the good work!!
