Kotlin is a cross-platform, statically typed, general-purpose programming language with type inference. Kotlin is designed to interoperate fully with Java, and the JVM version of its standard library depends on the Java Class Library, but type inference allows its syntax to be more concise. Kotlin mainly targets the JVM, but also compiles to JavaScript or native code (via LLVM). Kotlin is sponsored by JetBrains and Google through the Kotlin Foundation.

Simple Kotlin compiler
Simple Kotlin compiler that is inexpensive and good for developers who wish to start development work using Kotlin but are totally unfamiliar with Kotlin. It allows developers to get used to the Kotlin language ( data types, control-flow etc ) before using the full version Visual Studio which is a lot more complicated and time consuming to install and compile.
Ideally one should already know another programming language well before attempting to code in Kotlin as this language is relatively new so documentations about it are not too good compared to other programming languages. So this simple compiler allows one to test out the syntaxes, data types and control flow statement before jumping into more complicated stuffs.
Put it in another way, this is almost like DOS Kotlin and Visual Studio Kotlin is like Windows Kotlin. Windows apps are difficult to code but nice for users to use. So this Kotlin is the easier to learn and code version.
