Underrated App in Singapore!

This app is user friendly, has clean aesthetics, useful AI in both descriptions and images. The only downside is that the database isn't localised since it is not popular here.

With the 14-day trial, i went from 55kg to 53kg (actual weight, day-to-day fluctuations smoothened out — this is another feature I love!)

Not worth the hype

I’ve tried various food logging apps, from MyFitnessPal to Lose It! and eventually landing on FoodNoms.

This hardly compares to FoodNoms. I really expected more from the “coaching” the app was supposed to provide to reach more specific goals. If the app has a program, it should perhaps teach me too how to accomplish the program? You’re left with so much guess-work that you’re back to planning your meals carefully like any other app.

Oddly enough, even switching between strategies it gave me the exact same protein intake recommendations on a standard diet as on a high protein diet 🤷‍♀️ How are these values really calculated?

I read the article comparing MyFitnessPal to MacroFactor & while yeah, food entry can be faster… that’s assuming it has a database has the foods you consume. This hasn’t been the case for me with foods offf Malaysian & Singaporean supermarket shelves.

The AI is not much better either, especially compared to Foodnoms. The default mode is photo-only, so unless you take every extra click for “Food + text” it will improperly identify plant-based foods. Could there at least be some context for the AI agent?

It’s just… mid. The UX, the lacklustre integration with Apple Health, and the incredibly frustrating interface when creating food entries.

There are other apps that do exactly what this app does for far cheaper a subscription.

Not a good app, paid for 6 months subs but it not worth it

There were many reasons why I tried out this app. Was looking for something better than MyFitnessPal which I’ve used for many years. The food database is also not what it claims. Compared to MFP, this app’s food database is small and very concentrated on US and UK packaged products. I’m from Asia and when I tried adding Asian food, most of the database comes up with US or UK branded ones. Even something as staple as Beef Satay or it accompaniment Satay Peanut Sauce is not found in the list of food. I paid for 6 months subscription and after 4 months use, the database list has not grown. Going back to MFP. Giving one star to warn others to not buy into their marketing message or affiliate marketing content.
