Half the fun of the match-3 puzzle game Disney Emoji Blitz is admiring its supercute takes on beloved characters. Now try creating them yourself! Here, the game’s art director, Matt Swartz, offers up a quick lesson on sketching Disney’s most famous star.

Step 1: With a pen in hand (or an Apple Pencil and your favorite sketching app), draw a simple circle.

Step 2: Perch a small oval on each side for Mickey’s ears.

Step 3: With a pencil, draw a vertical guideline straight down the center. Add a horizontal line a quarter of the way up from the bottom so the lines intersect at Mickey’s nose. Add a heart shape for Mickey’s lovable face.

Step 4: Add two vertical ovals for eyes, a horizontal oval nose, and a great big smile.

Step 5: Ta-da! Now you can give your Mickey any expression you want. (You can erase those guidelines later.) For inspiration, here are several the Disney Emoji Blitz team created. Have fun designing your own!
