About Ratings and Reviews

Use ratings and reviews to learn what users think of the app and choose whether the app is right for you. If an app has enough submissions in your country or region, the app’s product page shows the overall rating and reviews, which you can browse by most recent, critical, and more.

An app may have a summary that highlights the most common customer feedback and sentiment in user reviews about the app. The summaries are refreshed as new reviews are added. Summaries are available in select countries and regions and for apps with enough reviews to provide a summary. They appear on the app’s product page. If the summary is inaccurate or has another issue, you can report a problem.

Sharing your experiences from using an app can help other users learn about it and help the developer improve their app. Provide a rating between one to five stars and a written review while using the app or from the app’s product page. Only users who download the app through the App Store can submit a rating and review. You can also mark another user’s review as helpful or not helpful. If you observe a review that contains offensive material, spam, or other content that violates submission guidelines, you can raise this through Report a Concern on the App Store.

Apple takes many steps to ensure ratings and reviews are safe and helpful. Ratings and reviews are monitored, and concerns raised by users and developers are promptly investigated by Apple. In 2023, with over 1.1 billion ratings and reviews processed, Apple removed nearly 152 million fraudulent ratings and reviews from the App Store.

Developers cannot change or remove reviews; Apple determines if a review violates submission guidelines and should be removed. Developers can respond to a user’s review, which will show to all users on the App Store. The user will be notified and has the option to update their review. If the developer has a specific concern about a review, they can share that with Apple.

All ratings and reviews must meet our submission guidelines to be published. Apple does not permit objectionable, offensive, unlawful, deceptive, inaccurate, or harmful ratings and reviews. Spam, fraud, and compensated or incentivized submissions are also not allowed. Apple also confirms the user has downloaded the app before allowing a rating or review to be published.
