Want to fight your way through Lost for Swords’ creature-filled rooms? Be a card-carrying hero! Each stop in this pixel-art RPG holds a random mix of weapon, armor, and magic cards. Gather your arsenal, then clobber orcs and ghouls before they do the same to you.
What we love: Finding spectacular combos. Up against sturdy skeletons? Try the triple threat of Foresight (flips every card face up), Magnetic Ring (lets you equip face-up armor cards from anywhere), and Arthur’s Pendant (damages foes when you equip armor). Enemies don’t stand a chance!
Quick tip: A small, well-focused deck is the key to victory—constantly adding new cards means less chance of seeing that Stealth Cloak turn up when you really need it. Once you’ve collected powerful cards, have the Pyromaniac destroy some of your starter weapons and shields.
Meet the creator: Austrian indie developer Maximilian Csuk originally planned to have no text on the cards in the game, which he was cleverly calling Lost for (S)words. That idea changed, but it ended up inspiring the game’s story about recovering magical swords lost to time, and the name—or a version of it—stuck.
