《左傳》，舊傳為春秋時期左丘明著，近人認為是戰國時人所編 ，是中國古代第一部敘事完備的編年體史書，更是先秦散文著作的代錶。作品原名為《左氏春秋》，漢代改稱《春秋左氏傳》《春秋內傳》《左氏》，漢朝以後多稱《左傳》。它是儒家重要經典之一，是歴代儒客學子重要研習史書，與《公羊傳》《谷梁傳》合稱“春秋三傳”。
《左傳》實質上是一部獨立撰寫的記史文學作品，它起自魯隱西元年（西元前722年），迄於魯哀公二十七年（西元前468年），以《春秋》為本，通過記述春秋時期的具體史實來說明《春秋》的綱目。
