APPS WE LOVE

AutoSnore

What noises do you make when you’re sound asleep?

After countless late-night elbows in the ribs, you may have started pondering “Do I really snore that loudly?” AutoSnore helps you find out once and for all. Using your iPhone’s microphone, the app records the frequency, intensity and duration of your snoring patterns and offers a visual break-down of data, a “snurk-rating” score (the lower the better) and sound bites of your most impressive bellows.

What we love: How easy the app is to use. You don’t need to wear your Apple Watch to bed; simply place your iPhone next to your bed and press Start before dozing off. When you wake up, click Stop to end your recording and dive into a world of snore-related stats. And you’ll sleep soundly (we hope!), knowing that all data remains on your phone.

Quick tip: Tags such as “Alcohol” or “Ate Late” can be added via the Home page to give more context to last night’s snore-fest. Over time, you’ll start to see the impact your everyday habits can have on your snurk score. And AutoSnore offers up handy lifestyle measures along the way to help you get a more restful night’s sleep.

Meet the creator: The Sydney–based studio Tantsissa is also behind popular Apple Watch apps HeartWatch and AutoSleep. Developer David Walsh hopes AutoSnore offers a real and fixable solution to people who are told “You snore!” In his words, “We want to give people a simple, fun, non-judgmental way to understand what’s actually happening while you sleep.”
