Every morning, Foolscap sets a fresh ladder of cryptic clues — composed entirely on your iPhone, and never repeated. Solve a rung and the next inherits a letter, so each day's sheet is one connected climb, not seven scattered puzzles.
A cryptic clue has two halves: a straight definition and a piece of wordplay — an anagram, a hidden word, a charade — that both lead to the same answer. Foolscap is built for the pleasure of cracking that. And when you solve a rung, it shows you the wordplay decomposition: the "why" a good crossword editor would point to. Over a few mornings, the tricks start to click.
Every clue is checked on your device before you ever see it. The wordplay genuinely leads to the answer, the definition fits, and no other word also solves it. A clue that can't be made fair is simply never shown.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renew, in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
