Markit is a Markdown editor for macOS. What you type renders as you type it — and what lands on disk is a plain .md file that any other tool can open. How it feels to write · Headings, lists, tables and footnotes appear as you type. No wall of syntax to read past · Mermaid flowcharts, Markmap mind maps and KaTeX math render in place; the source shows only when your cursor moves in · Five kinds of callout, syntax-highlighted code, striped tables, task lists, and typography set for long-form reading · ⌘/ drops you into source editing, ⌘E into reading — three views of the same file Organizing a library · Open several folders at once, each one independent · Hierarchical #tags: rename one, and every file that uses it follows · [[Wikilinks]] and a backlinks panel; rename a file and the references to it are updated too · Full-text search built on SQLite FTS5, including languages without word boundaries A window that holds a whole day · Tabs and four-way drag-to-split panes, each with its own navigation history · Drop in images, PDFs, code or video to preview side by side; drop in a link for an embedded web pane · Focus mode collapses both side panels with ⌘D · Your layout comes back after a restart, right where you left it When you're done · Export self-contained HTML: images and styles embedded, table of contents generated, nothing missing when you send it on · Export PDF Your files, your call · No account, no network, no upload · Atomic writes; CRLF/LF and BOM preserved byte for byte; frontmatter left exactly as you wrote it · Edits made outside the app are detected and offered as an explicit choice — never silently overwritten · Eight interface languages, switched without a restart
