Recogny is made for Deaf and hard of hearing people. It recognizes who is talking in the room, shows them on screen and gives each person a vibration of their own. In a meeting or at a busy dinner table, you know who has the floor.
HOW IT WORKS
Recogny listens and tells speakers apart by their voices. Each new voice gets a color; give it a name and next time it is recognized by name. The speaker's card lights up on screen and also shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
FEEL WHO IS TALKING
Everyone gets a vibration pattern: a rhythm, their name in Braille, or the syllables of their name. You know who is speaking without looking at the screen. With a paired Apple Watch, it taps your wrist too.
CAPTIONS
Speech is written out at the bottom of the screen. Lines in another language can show a translation underneath.
ALERTS
• A long vibration when someone says your name
• Sounds like a doorbell, an alarm, a crying baby or a barking dog
• The camera flash blinks with alerts
• A notification when the speaker changes while the app is in the background
QUICK ACCESS
Control Center, the Action button, Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets, and Siri shortcuts.
ACCESSIBILITY
Works with VoiceOver. The layout grows with larger text sizes, and cards stop flipping when Reduce Motion is on.
PRIVACY
No audio is recorded. Recognition and captions run on the phone; names and voice prints stay on this phone only. There is no account, and no ads or tracking.
RECOGNY PREMIUM
Recognition, background listening and the Dynamic Island are free. Premium adds translation, Apple Watch vibrations, the Home Screen widget and a card that glows in the person's color. Weekly or yearly subscription; it renews automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled.
