The sequencer update. SEQ. A third mode on the MODE pill: the chop window becomes a 16-step sequencer. Select a step, press a pad, and the chop is laid on release — LAY auto-advances so you can drop a run as fast as you can tap. Long-press a step to set the loop end. Steps show the sound. Every note draws the actual waveform it will play — pitch, direction, and loop mode included — and a cursor sweeps the grid in time with playback. Slide while laying a pad and the pitch drift records into the step, replaying on every trigger and drawn as a line over the note. Longer notes, one gesture. Keep holding the pad and touch the step you want the note to end on. The span previews under your finger and is written when you let go. Tempo, one tap away. Tap the CHOPPA title for the global BPM — type it or tap it in. Inside an AU host, Choppa follows the host's tempo and shows it. Bank to Koala. Long-press a bank letter: EXPORT TO KOALA renders that bank's chops to individual wavs and hands them straight to Koala's importer — sequential pads, ready to play. Sharper reading. The chop view dims the audio that won't play, pad trails now start where the chop starts (even for chops shorter than a blink), and the manual lives under HOW IT WORKS in the title popup.

Import, rebuilt end to end. FIXED: imports that silently did nothing. A decoder bug ate any 44.1 kHz file — most mp3s, m4as, and aifs — imported via the share sheet, Open In, or the FOLDERS tab: no error, no sample. One decoder now handles every import path, and when something genuinely can't be read, Choppa says so on screen. The import window. Files longer than 10 seconds open a trim view: the full waveform, a crop window you drag by the edges or scrub by the body, 10/20/30-second presets plus FULL, and PLAY to audition exactly what you're about to take. The view zooms to your crop as you shape it. Chop before you commit. The trim view carries the auto-chop controls — the same two glyph knobs as MAGIC plus a 4/8/16 grid — and shows ghost markers of exactly where auto-chop will cut, live as you turn the knobs. What you see is the split you get. Cloud files are real files now. iCloud files that aren't on your phone yet show a cloud badge and a GET button — download, then import, automatically. No more taps that do nothing. Share both ways. Library entries now share as the full recording (.wav) or as clips (.zip of every chop, with each chop's gain, pitch, and reverse baked in). Sturdier under pressure. Choppa now recovers its audio engine when other apps seize the session, after phone calls that never "end," and even after a media-services crash — and takes in progress get finalized and saved instead of lost. Monitor settings no longer drift between modes across takes and relaunches.

The 1.6 engine release — everything since 1.5.1 in one update. INPUT FX — host AUv3 effects on your live input. Chain up to 4 effects (any installed AUv3 plus Apple's built-ins) that run before record and monitor: what you capture is what you hear. Lives in the transmissions drawer. Near-instant monitoring. The whole input path moved into a single low-latency render callback — monitoring your mic now feels immediate instead of noticeably behind your voice. Pre-record on the mic. Set PRE-RECORD (1–30s) and REC reaches back to before you pressed it — and starts instantly, no waiting for the input threshold. The tape always keeps 5 seconds free for live audio, and the setting shows its true reach-back (including under Low Power Mode). The library grew up. Three tabs: CHOPS (yours), WAVELOOP (sounds shared by other WaveLoop apps), and FOLDERS (browse your own folders and import straight from them). Preview any entry in place with a play button and moving cursor, swipe left to delete, and the drawer opens fast. Recording keeps your work safe. Takes that fill the tape now finalize and save instead of wiping. Normalize no longer distorts hot takes. Files opened from other apps respect your NORMALIZE / SAFE import settings. Your mic and capsule selection survives phone calls, route changes, and RESET AUDIO; picking a capsule mid-set no longer interrupts playing loops; pulling your headphones mid-take saves the take and mutes the monitor instead of squealing. The input LEVEL slider now works on mics. Also: bipolar effect controls (like delay feedback) mark their neutral point and double-tap to reset, banks are labelled A–D in the share picker, a new BACKGROUND MIC setting (off by default — backgrounding releases the mic), and a cleaner fixed-height chop editor.

AUv3 host fixes. Two bugs that hit Choppa users running it inside AUM (and other AUv3 plugin hosts). Pads no longer freeze after the first tap. A scratch-mode safety guard from the standalone app was firing in the plugin too, locking up subsequent pad presses. Now disabled in the host UI (where two-finger scratch lives on the minimap and chop view instead). Importing audio via the + button no longer fails with "Decode failed: -50" on MP3, M4A, or any 44.1k source. The plugin's audio converter is now built with the same headroom the standalone app uses.

Scratch any chop. Play chord progressions. Turntable scratch on every chop. Hold a pad, drop a second finger anywhere on the screen — Choppa slows like a record being touched, follows your finger motion as scratch velocity, and ramps back to nominal when you lift. The decay is force-based exponential, modeled on real platter inertia (not a time-based linear fade), so direction-on-release reads naturally. Scratch also works on the chop view (single-finger scrub-from-position) and across the whole minimap as one continuous turntable surface — drag past chop boundaries freely. PERF / SCRATCH and PERF / CNFG. New MODE pill in the toolbar (REC / PERF) and a PERF sub-mode toggle. PERF/SCRATCH is the turntable; PERF/CNFG is chop configuration + a new poly play mode. POLY chord play. In PERF/CNFG, the left toolbar slot toggles MONO ⇄ POLY. POLY plays each voice only while its pad is held — piano-key behavior — and lets you stack multiple voices simultaneously for chord and counter-melody play. MONO chokes prior voices on every trigger (one voice at a time, last-press-wins). REC ARM safety. Full re-record is destructive by design (no undo). New ARM button in REC mode's left slot — tap to arm, then tap REC. The REC button is dim and inert until armed; tapping it while disarmed pulses ARM to teach the safety. Auto-disarms on mode switch and after every take. Punch-in (single-chop overwrite, which is undoable) doesn't need ARM. Share-to-Choppa picks the bank + chop count. Sharing audio to Choppa from another app now opens a bank picker — 4-bank vertical list, each with a mini waveform preview — plus a 4/8/16 chop-count selector with live preview of how the incoming file will divide. Pick a bank, pick a count, the sample lands there at that density. Replaces the previous behavior of silently stomping whichever bank was active. AUv3 scratch toggle. Single icon button beside the import (+) in the plugin host UI. Flips the chop view + minimap into scratch mode so the turntable gesture works inside AUM, Loopy Pro, GarageBand, and any AU host. Fresh full re-record = NEW bank. Long-press REC for a brand-new take and the bank gets a new random colour, per-chop controls (pitch / reverse / loop / gain) reset to defaults — clean slate, visually distinct. Punch-in (per-chop overwrite) keeps all bank state. Auto-chop stays put across launches. Chop layouts saved with your sample no longer get re-chopped on every app open — auto-chop runs only on truly fresh audio (new recordings, freshly imported files). Restored sessions, library entries, and .choppa imports keep exactly the boundaries you saved. Quality of life. Monitor settings persist across launches (no more feedback ambush when demoing). GAIN readout in the chop info overlay shows MUTE in red when a chop's gain drops below audibility. RESET AUDIO in Settings rebuilds the audio engine without an app restart, for recovery from rare audio-service drops. Library long-press surfaces the share menu (entry-level share moved out of the toolbar). IMPORT moved into the library drawer header.

Choppa is now a wireless track. Hit USE ABLETON LINK in Settings and Choppa publishes its master mix as a Link Audio source on the local network. Open Live, Loopy Pro, AUM, or any Link 4 peer on the same Wi-Fi and pick "Choppa · your-device-name" from the track input picker. Tempo syncs at the same time. Hit REC on your phone, hear chops in the host. No USB cable, no Audio Unit, no virtual audio device. One-toggle enable. The original Link integration had three knobs across two sheets — 1.4 collapses everything into a single switch. Power users can still reach Ableton's standard Link settings dialog via Advanced. AUv3 host compatibility hardening. Added the registration metadata that some hosts gate plugin loading on. Hosts that already loaded Choppa keep working; hosts that previously filtered it out should now pick it up. Ableton Live 12.4 still doesn't scan AUv3 plugins regardless — the Link Audio path above is the workaround, and a proper AUv2 build is tracked for a future release. Wired Ethernet over USB-C gives the most stable Link Audio. Wi-Fi works for short sessions; long takes benefit from a wired connection. Also added a bit of juicy visual work for your viewing pleasure!

Pick what feeds Choppa. A new Transmissions panel slides out from the left. Mic capsules at the top — front, back, bottom, plus any USB interface or AirPods you've got connected. Two royalty-free streams ship with the app. Paste any HTTPS audio URL to add your own. Live spectrum at the bottom of the panel shows what's actually reaching the recorder so silent bars don't read as broken — they tell you the source is selected but isn't producing audio. Recording from streams works. Hit REC while listening to one of the built-ins or your own URL and Choppa captures the audio you hear, frame-aligned, no desync between monitor and take. iPad readability + layout pass. Fonts are 2× on iPad so you can read the screen from across the room. Banks moved into the right column right above the minimap and chop editor — bank-switch, sample, chop, all in one column. Tools is a slide-out drawer like Library and Transmissions. Settings + Magic now have an X in the top-right corner. Square corners everywhere. The whole UI is blockier and reads faster. Empty-bank library guard. No more phantom blank entries cluttering your saved chops — library entries are minted only when you actually record or import audio. Empty banks now show the REC button in gold so the next move is obvious. AUv3 fixes for Loopy Pro / AUM hosts: • Drag the loop region (IN / OUT) edges in the minimap. • New vertical resize handle for the chop editor. • Library and import buttons are clean icons without iOS's default rounded chrome. Library entries no longer show a per-bank letter chip — a saved choppa is a choppa, not a bank.

Choppa 1.3 — Library, Magic, Choppa FX • LIBRARY — every bank you record auto-saves into a persistent library you can browse from the new drawer (top-left). Tap to load any chop into the active bank, long-press to rename or recolour. Your stash outlives every session. • MAGIC — auto-split chops with TRANSIENTS or NOTES detection. Drag the sensitivity slider and watch the live preview redraw in real time. Toggle auto-split on every record / import. First and last chops snap to the first and last sound, so no more leading silence in chop 1. • CHOPPA FX (AUv3 effect) — drop Choppa onto any track in AUM, Loopy Pro, GarageBand or Logic and capture the host signal straight into chops. Hit record in the AUv3, or use MIDI transport (C1 arm, C#1 record, D1 stop). Pull anything you cut on your phone into the plug-in via shared library. • Tap the minimap to audition the whole bank, NEW button to overwrite a bank cleanly, edit-bank sheet keyboard fixes, punch-in normalize fix, REC reliability after backgrounding / phone calls / Siri.

Chop Layers — each pad count is its own layer now. Switch between 4, 8, 16 and everything stays where you left it. Pitch, gain, reverse, loop mode, region bounds — all preserved per layer. Live parameter control — change pitch, volume, reverse, or loop mode while voices are playing. Scrub region bounds mid-playback. Everything updates in real time. Three-finger tap cycles loop mode in the chop view. Off, loop, ping-pong. Recording pre-roll — captures audio from just before the trigger so you never lose the attack transient. Import controls — new settings panel with Safe Import (attenuates hot signals), Normalize (scales gain to unity), and Mash (soft-clip for lo-fi grit). Monitor Input lets you hear your mic through Choppa. Start marker fix — moving chop boundaries no longer glitches the playhead mid-playback.
