GetCertified is an app that uses blockchain technology to validate the certificates obtained by students. Certificates, especially those obtained from online courses, can be easily falsified, making them of low value. With our app we strive to increase the value of those certificates by making them impossible to falsify. Using an ethereum smart contract, schools are able to upload a certificate to the ethereum blockchain associating it with the ethereum address of the student who should be receiving it. The student would then be able to retrieve a copy of this certificate, from the blockchain to the iPhone. As everything uploaded to a blockchain is public and immutable, it will be easy to check if a student actually earned his certification, making the counterfeit of certificates virtually impossible.
