While the recent UI update looks different, it introduced a highly frustrating UX issue that causes severe data loss. When typing a long prompt in the input field, a slight, accidental left swipe easily triggers the left sidebar (chat history). The real disaster is that the app completely lacks a basic "draft auto-save" feature. Once the sidebar opens, the app treats it as navigating away, and all unsubmitted text in the input box is instantly wiped out! It is incredibly infuriating to lose hundreds of typed characters in a split second. Almost all modern messaging apps have text retention to prevent this, yet Gemini lacks this fundamental safeguard.Combined with the overly sensitive swipe gesture in the new update, this is a fatal design flaw. I strongly urge the engineering team to:1 Implement an auto-save/draft feature for the input field immediately.2 Adjust the swipe sensitivity or disable the sidebar gesture while the keyboard is active.Until this is fixed, typing long prompts on the mobile app is incredibly risky and frustrating!
