Castle Duels markets itself as a strategy card battler, but in practice, it’s a pay-to-win trap with a matchmaking system that punishes free-to-play players. Despite investing time and skill—often playing more strategically even with 7 Supermerge cards versus an opponent’s 5—I still consistently lose, simply because my opponent’s deck is overpowered. The game claims to use a “deck score” system, but it clearly doesn’t balance opponents based on that. When I bring a deck score of 15 and get matched against someone with 17.5, it’s not a fair fight—no matter how well I play. Power creep and wallet-driven progression outweigh tactical play.In short, Castle Duels is not a competitive strategy game—it’s a spending competition disguised as one. Unless you’re willing to pay, expect to lose to players with stronger decks, even if you’re more skilled.
