I tried out a number of apps in order to keep my small food inventory organized, and this is the most intuitive and convenient to use among them. It provides a list of food items, sorted by how soon they will expire. When an item is eaten or expired, it can be removed from the list by marking it accordingly. I do hope that it was possible to mark a portion of an item is consumed though. For example, when I use only a half of a box of curry blocks. For now, it seems that you have to mark the whole box.
